Front indicators
Discussion
Hi all, my front indicators need replacing. The nearside had lost its lense and the bulb housing has all but disintegrated.
What's the current availability of the whole unit, X2 or is there an upgrade, LED I'm thinking.
Any info would be appreciated about the ease, or otherwise of replacing these.
It's due a service soon with Matt Smith though, so I might be tempted to let him sort it out.

Thanks, I have contacted Chris, nothing yet.
I did follow up another posting on the Facebook page, these.....worth a punt?

I used Dun Bri for these although the ones I got were clear lens with orange LED which look miles better, so worth giving them a call and see if they still do them
https://www.dun-bri.com/catalogue/CV-Lighting/Sign...
Although the correct diameter lens the housing was a little too narrow so a sleeve had to be machined for them to locate properly. This could be down to TVR possibly not making every car exactly the same and the aperture in mine was a little larger
There was another thread worth searching for where someone has fitted day time running lights combined with indicators which looked a really smart solution.

Thanks, I've taken a look, they're on back order. 75mm so I can see they'd be a little loose.
The ones I linked to, europarts and Amazon do them, are 79mm so should be a snug fit. Free returns so I'm going to give them a go.
Anyone give me some hints on accessibility please. Or point me at the relevant thread.
Thanks

Searched and found the other thread. The link doesn't work for me but if you do Facebook these definitely look worth while.

Thanks, yes, I've contacted him but no reply as yet.
I've ordered the Hella units from euro. I'm not sure I want to break my arms and back trying to fit them though.
If I could get the car up in the air it might be different, but I can't so...........
I think Chris posted on Facebook recently that he's stopped doing the 3d printing stuff currently as he does not have the time and has closed his website.I've ordered the Hella units from euro. I'm not sure I want to break my arms and back trying to fit them though.

Thanks, I guess that's why he hasn't replied!
I'm going to keep this thread going and update as an when.
The Hella units have arrived and I'd mis-read the size The depth front to back is 79mm, not the diameter...which is overall ~65mm
I have a local engineering Co. that do the occasional odd things for me for work, I paid them a visit.
They are going to sleeve the Hella units so they can be bonded into the existing alloy(?) ring.
This can in turn be slipped back into the recess and bonded to the body.
I will break away the plastic ring which held the original lense cover.
Sounds simple enough.............

Can you use the Mk2 Tuscan bezels to do both jobs?

Possibly, but the lamps aren't available and there are no sizes given other than 55mm deep.
Will they be a snug fit in the Tuscan 1 recess.
If I get mine made up using the original ring, they'll slide into place.
Good thought though, thanks.
I think the lamps you've got are the same as the MK2 front indicator ones. Will they be a snug fit in the Tuscan 1 recess.

I think if I used the MK2 bezels I'd have to adapt them to fit the MK1?https://www.racetechdirect.co.uk/car-parts/electri...
I'm trying to use the original MK 1 rings and adapt around them. At least I know they'll fit the aperture.
I'm basically making it up as I go along, a bit of classic TVR R&D.... even if it is 20 years too late

That'll be me then.
I've been helping Chris with his 3d printing while he's been involved in other projects and he's eventually decided that it's taking up too much of his limited spare time so asked if I'd be prepared to take over production. As I have no friends or social life, it's right up my street.
He has kindly donated all of his leftover bits, associated instruction leaflets, 3d paraphernalia and even another printer so that I should be able to hit the ground running.
We've worked together for over 40 years in various guises so I know he's there for support and I recently visited his castle to get up to speed.
SO.....tell me what you're after and I'll see if I can help
Grant.

I wondered why my ears were burning... keep an eye on the FB page. I've arranged for someone to take on the production of the indicators and the rear light conversion kits etc, just so there's some support for the Tuscan community. Should be up and running before Christmas. Cheers.

I have today picked up the "sleeves", for want of a better description, from the engineer who took on the task.
I think they are excellent.
I'm off to Matt Smith early November for a service and MOT and he will remove the old units and replace with these.
Hope I'm not treading on anyone's toes here but as I hadn't heard anything I have followed my own path.
I will of course update as an when I have anything to add.
The engineer I have used is willing to produce small batches.....
