I took the door catch base plate off my Tuscan and have misplaced it.

I ordered a replacement and this is what’s turned up today. The pictures on the seller’s website show a polished item, but the item received is scratched, pitted and dull.

I don’t think it’s acceptable condition for a new item.

Just seeking others views in case I’m being ‘fussy’?

Thanks
Andy

Nobody in their right mind could possibly supply that part as being new

This is the base plate rather than the cover plate, it never gets seen, although my thoughts are, that is would be a brushed finish (simply re-brush it with a S/S wire brush)...I cannot see that this would be made today for the price that you have paid. I've expected all of the TVR parts such as this would need to be first fitted by the purchaser and have done for the last 40 plus years. A@

AND edited to say you are right. But then, I cannot see another source for this part.

Thanks guys for the feedback. I good points Adrian... I think I'll just let it go as it doesn't really matter in the big scheme of things.

I have had a look at mine today, and this is a piece of brushed aluminium (S/S wire brush or even emery paper will tidy it up). I have known that I had one of the petite screws missing and wanted to look at what I needed to do to replace it (the thread is stripped). I now need to think about how to replace/helicoil etc. A@

I had a look on my plate and it looks like the cover plate is not screwed as the screws fixing the base plate are visible trough the holes of the cover. It might be glued?

How is your cover plate fixed? And do you have pics of the mechanism under the base plate?

I have ordered some M2 S/S screws to replace mine, and a M2 thread repair tool to reclaim the threads. I have my drivers side plate stuck on as I been unable to to remove the third screw ATM, as this is a replacement torx drive head (so phone 'T' size and I have to go look for that driver set that I have used once in my life and not seen since). There is a presumption on my part that these are M2 as the total length of the damn thing is petite and my thread gauges could not measure the 6 threads, but, the thread diameter of 2mm, head diameter of 3.8mm and head height of 1.2mm near as matched the one I could get out to the ones I have purchased (AND all of mine will be reclaimed to M2 anyway) A@

Looks that way, screw is under the cover plate.
