My mk1 Tuscan doesn't have the 10mm ball stud fitted for some reason. Looks like the previous owner has glassed in a repair but not re-attached the ball.

Could someone please let me know if a standard ball stud is used for this purpose? Simply push through an 8mm hole with a low profile nut on the other side or something else used to attach the ball stud to the fibreglass?

Originally, I think TVR would have used a threaded bobbin set in the fibreglass and the ball screwed into the bobbin. I didn't like banging the bar in and out to support the service bonnet, so I changed it for a permanently attached gas strut .

Great idea, got any specs on the strut, length, force, supplier? Cheers!

I've used this company in the past
https://www.sgs-engineering.com/gssv6-60
But mine are METROL
https://motioncontrol.metrol.com/variable-force-st...

I intended putting one on each side , but not necessary and required too much modification

Compared to original strut (I had mine done when I had the hinged bonnet 15 years ago !!! , some fibreglass work may have been done) . The gas pressure is adjustable, just don't let too much out !!!)
