As I can't see a tyre thread since 2018 I thought I'd ask what people are running?
I'm not too concerned with sizes, I have late 2006 Tuscan S and it runs 235/35/18 and 255/35/28 which I am happy with and the speedo is bank on with sat nav. I am more interested in the brand?
I have Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric but just been told they are 10 years old!! I will replace very soon but just seen there are now many F1 Asymmetrics and most of them are now run flats. Do people still run the F1s or Micheline Pilot Sport 4s?
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Yokohama AD08R
How do you get on with these? I am changing soon and quite fancy trying. I avoid the wet but slightly concerned if i get caught out that the AD08Rs will be deadly?Am running 265/235 on OZ wheels.

I'd be interested if you find it tramlines a lot more with 255 on the front... mine did and Ben Lang advised me to change to 225s and I've been on 225s for the last 15 years
Sorry, just seen this. Actually since posting I remembered that I had 235 on when I bought the car and when replacing the fonts Jason at Str8six asked if it had been tramlining and I said no, so suggested went back to 255. I've had them on for last 10 years with no issues. Mine is a late 2006 with a wavey dash which is often referred to as the "Mk3". I believe the suspension was revised on these and tbh I've had virtually no issues with it since ownership.
I did a wet weather training day at Rockingham with TVR OC a good few years back and I remember of all the cars there mine seemed easiest to control on all the exercises. I will report back if there is much difference but I hope all is good. Also £500 for a full new set of tyres is a bargain in my eyes.
Old thread resurrection time - my query is not on the sizing other Tuscan owners are using (I'm running Toyo 235/245's front and back respectively), but more on a comment which has been made to me that the Tuscan benefits from "non" XL rated tyres.
I've ordinarily never considered this on my other cars, but it's an interesting challenge to even find any new/up to date tyre's which are NON XL. I'm a big fan of Michelin P4S4's (admittedly on a lot heavier cars), but they are once again, XL ply rated tyres.
Any views/knowledge/real world experience therefore appreciated!

I've always worked on the theory that the lower the load rating the more compliance you'll get from the side wall. I tried researching it in more detail the last time I put new tyres on but following the table linked means we should be looking at a load rating of 76...good luck finding that!

Most important for our lighter cars is that XL adds weight to the tyre so will affect suspension/handling/ride disproportionately more than on a heavier car.
There's some more info here about the XL designation:

It's kind of a moot point though as we're limited by what's available so when on the market again I'll go for the lowest load rating and avoid XL.
