Tuscan 2 convertible front speaker issue
Discussion
Have disassembled the stereo/speakers in my Tuscan 2 convertible today to track down why the front speakers are not working....
I believe it has a factory setup - front coaxial speakers in the doors, component woofers behind the seats on the back wall, with tweeters in the dash. Rears and tweeters work, door speakers don't.
Behind the stereo are the usual pair of ISO connectors (one for speakers, one for power/etc.. which plug into the head unit) PLUS some additional speaker wiring with a 4-pin connector block. The rears are wired into the ISO plug, but the fronts and doors are wired into the extra connector block, which when connected connect into the ISO plug. So wiring is a little messy but all looks original, and it all seems to be connected up.
Interestingly, the tweeters are wired in parallel to the door coaxials (this is of course nonsense audio design, but let's move past that) - but, door speakers are not working despite the tweeters working fine - so the audio signal is good....something is not connected right from the extra block to the door speakers.
Disconnecting everything, and continuity testing door speaker cables to the extra block behind the headunit shows the +ve is continuous for both L and R. But the -ve is discontinuous for both L and R - despite the cables looking physically identical at both ends, the -ve cables seem to be "broken" somewhere between the back of the head unit and door.
So, coincidence aside, why would this be the case? Surely TVR would have simply run speaker cable from the back of the head unit to the door without breaking it (with connector, or whatever). The fact they both exhibit the same weird behaviour suggests I've missed or can't see something....
Anyone seen similar?
Of course if this isn't fixable, my solution here will be to run new cables in - but i'd rather avoid that unless I have to!

All I can say is ALL my speakers work fine and have from day one , I replaced the Alpine unit with Pioneer years ago to have USB, DB Radio, Bluetooth, Hands free .
But there's no guarantee any two TVRs are the same , my convertible had Griff sidelights (inside the front wings !!!) , the wrong type of Hella lights and a butchered wiring loom
.... That's the joys of TVR ownership .
