Starting to plan for a long road trip in July.

So what emergency spare parts should I put in the boot with me for the trip?

- Oil Filter
- 100amp Fuse/small fuses
- Relays
-?
-?

I want to put a kit together so I am not worried about something along the way

Make up a list of auto electricians that can be contacted along the way should you have a problem

Relays, don't bother, you can always pull a known good relay from another circuit if need be

Perhaps a fuel pump relay if your car uses the special brown Bosch one with a diode in series with the relay coil (I think it's the relay coil)

Some cable and insulation tape might come in handy, don't forget the wire cutters

Oh, and a bar that will reach the starter motor barrel so that you can give it a good knocking if the starter motor fails

Its north American road trip, so CAA for me.

Throttle cable seems to always pop up. That is top of my list

I’ve done a couple of Euro trips. I just took a few spare fuses, a throttle cable, some oil and a fuel pump relay, which my Tuscan did actually need. I did have a new throttle cable fitted before each trip too.

My car had hot start issues which were caused by the coil breaking down, this didn’t start until we were in Switzerland, so a bit of a nuisance. I’d probably have that work done next time too.
