Hi all.

Went down the local body shop to have the spectrometer treatment. Chap said its pretty darn accurate so I had great hopes. It was out by a country mile! Anyone have any advice on how to go about getting a reasonable match? Is there any know TVR specialists out there that have nailed it? I'm touching up for now but a respray is on the cards at some point. I don't think its the actual Grigio Titanio ferrari (official) colour although there are a few variations. I have heard the TVR factory just made their own up so i expect the secret formula may be lost to time.

Any help is much appreciated!

Unfortunately from personal experience, I think it's difficult to get an exact match for the reasons you state.

When mine went in for a front end re-spray, the guy doing it stated that the car was already 3 shades of Iced Titanium as the rear diffuser and bonnet were different to the rest of the car, I ended up with a full colour change.

Hmm,

Think your right. PPG can find the ref for the paint. Apparently it has 1 agreed base colour and 16 various tints. Arse.....

TVR car club have put me in touch with Lawfield and Abbot, They have records from the factory so may shed some light. Not holding my breath. I just want a close-ish match for now. See what happens.

If you can't match it, Central did a cracking job on this Tuscan in gunmetal, posted by another PH member a while ago.
