Discussion
Hi All, I am looking at buying my first TVR. I have seen a car i am interested in but being a previously damaged cat C car I just wanted to get an indication on if the price is right.

Its just to have a weekend toy and replacing a Porsche Boxster S i have already for the same job. There are so few for sale am not able to tell if this is a good price or not based on the accident damage
I will get the car inspected before purchasing and i have seen the accident damaged was in 2008 so not worried about that bit of the car as this happened a long time ago and if the car was repaired correctly it would not stop me purchasing.

I would say it is a pretty good price given mileage, if it checks out. Note the "engine rebuild" statement may be a bit of a red herring - it states factory rebuild, and depending on when that was done my understanding is they often rebuilt engines with the same low quality components. So check if it was an early or late rebuild. Still isn't equivalent to a recent Str8Six/Powers rebuildd. It's also a bit of a mish-mash - as the ad states it has a mkii front grille, a "later dash LCD", odd bonnet fastenings on the front (never seen those before but I'm relatively new to the scene). The interior and exterior looks clean, though not sure white would be many buyer's first choice. Given it is being sold by a non-specialist you should absolutely get it checked out by someone who knows that they're doing.
Thanks the the replies. Don't have anyone in mind yet to look at it yet but going up on myself Wednesday to have a look at it as not too far from me ( Wigan ).
The dealer seems a decent guy to deal and quite open and honest. Does sell a few TVRS and has a another gold Tuscan in stock also ( Out of my price range for a weekend toy )
Looking at the rebuild I think it will be a TVR Factory rebuild and not aftermarket but dont mind spending the money in the future on a rebuild as not planning on it on. I was budgeting to get a major service with Valve clearance's completed as soon as I get one.
I saw there was a TVR Specialist TorqueRVT not too far away from me and the pricing for the servicing from what I can see are the same as I have been paying for my Porsche

Maybe it’s the camera angle or maybe I’m just a bit anal, but the left hand side of the bonnet (as you look at it) doesn’t align with the wing. I guess that’s where the accident damage was.
It is a keen price though…so if you’re happy to overlook such thing then worth getting a specialist to do an inspection.

Yes, my 12 months was £270.00.
I would ask the date of the factory rebuild. Early rebuilds used the same poor materials as the original engines.
TorqueRVT have been looking after all of my TVR's since 2007.
Spoke to TorqueRVT very helpful and honest with regards the car and would feel in safe hand when can find the right car can't get away from the fact of wanting a tuscanI would ask the date of the factory rebuild. Early rebuilds used the same poor materials as the original engines.

Hello did you look at the car? There was a car from
Spain from a firm that takes you out on a track day it was shiped back to uk asking price 12k it needed some tlc think it had same bonet pins and was white with a second fat rebuild. Ask them was it ever reinported from spain from a firm that used/raged it for track days.
Tony p.s. the engine parts was made from chocolate and replaced by chocolate. So a factory rebuild holds no water for me. Iv Had 4 tuscans tvrs for 12 years

The Tuscan may seem a reasonable purchase price, but what is it going to cost you long term when things start going wrong? https://www.britanniacarsuk.com/detail/1225460/use...

I did look at the car but was not for me, was too much money as found out the car had been in another accident after it was written off too.Spain from a firm that takes you out on a track day it was shiped back to uk asking price 12k it needed some tlc think it had same bonet pins and was white with a second fat rebuild. Based on the hidden history and it was a factory rebuild it was not worth the money as i would of spent to make the car right.
Still on the look out for the right car

My friend is likely selling his MK1 2000 Tuscan, he’s owned it for circa 11yrs and has had it religiously maintained at a TVR dealer. It’s immaculate inside and out. Circa 35k on the clock with a rebuild by TVR in its very early life…Based on the hidden history and it was a factory rebuild it was not worth the money as i would of spent to make the car right.
