..or will it just Splinter and and crumble as I screw into it?

I need to put a small 1 or 1.5 cm (self tapping) screw into the fibreglass in the passenger footwell.

If it is do-able is it straight-forward "just get screwing" job or will I need to drill a pilot hole first?

Thanks for you advice.

Short answer - yes you can screw direct into grp.

Caveats - thin grp will flex and probably not hold the (self-tapping) screw for very long. And - yes, I'd drill a pilot hole first. And - yes, try and use stainless screws.

When the screw rips out of the fibreglass or you knacker the screw head (stainless is comparatively soft) do it properly wink ..... Rawlnuts
