Best official TVR dealer
Discussion
As I am still a small way off getting the money together for a TUSCAN, I have been doing a bit of web based investigation on the official dealer network.
I went up to visit the TVR centre in BARNET, north London and have to say was far from impressed by the salesman/ bloke up there..
He just laughed when I told him how much I was looking to pay(circa £36-£38k for second hand Tuscan or even Tuscan S!!!) and then proceeded to slag off the computer software and cost of paint on non 2002 versions...Hardly made me feel like I should buy a TVR!!
Anybody had similar experiences??
The main bit of advice he could give me which by the sounds of the comments on this board are valid is to try and buy as late a model as possible as they will have hopefuly sorted the software faults out!!

Hello,
I have been thoroughly impressed by a well known TVR dealer in Melton Mowbray. The Sales guy was extremely helpful, friendly and honest.
What has impressed me the most is the after-sales servicing of the vehicle. They have performed every request I have made for repairs on the warranty with not a single quibble. I paid about 1k more than the same car would have cost privately but I feel it is most certainly worth it for peace of mind!
I shall be placing an order with them in the new year for a new Orange Cerb and feel confident that they will continue to look after me as well as they have done.
They come highly recommended.
Tony

There's no simple answer to this. Bear in mind the following points:
- Different sales people at the same dealer can either successfully recruit you as a customer and you'll be singing their praises or piss you off and you'll slag off the dealership for the rest of your life. Generally it's the people that matter not the dealer.
- Buying from a local dealer is the best bet. There will always be some niggle or another which you'll want sorted on a Friday afternoon. If you bought from the dealer then they're more likely to help you.
With the odd exception there's little point in asking which dealer is best. What I suggest you do is let us know where in the country you are and then people can email via your profile with experience of the local dealers.
At the end of the day, it's important that you form your own opinions and make your own successful relationships.

I live in Crouch End, North London, so the Barnet dealer would be my closest.
Like you said it is porbably worthwhile speaking to someone else up there to rty and cultivate a relationship.
Their prices do seem slightly more expensive than other dealers though..But as they are on my doorstep...

Ted doth speak the word of wisdom.
Barnet is my nearest & dearest - I have bought 3 through them now - and yes you do over time develop a relationship, to the extent that they treat you slightly differently, remember your name etc etc but the same is probably true of every small volume car sales dealer
Once you have purchased, your main relationship with them is at the Service level and the people there are generally knowledgeable, helpful and willing to help with those "just dropped in" queries.
But the same answer is probably prevalent from anyone who has an OK relationship with their main dealer.

I don't understand what's wrong with your price range.
I haven't heard anything before about the cost of paint - what does it mean ?
The only software changes I am aware of have fairly minor consequences on the operation of the pod. It can be upgraded by the factory anyway.
