Later Suspension Setup
Discussion
Hi guys, I'm slowly going through little items on my Tuscan, and have started to look at the suspension. So I'm wondering two things:
1. How can I tell if I have the later set up? Look for 8 Holes on the Upright? Where are these holes? Any pics of the old Vs new uprights?
2. Were steering rack spacers used to raise the rack as part of the later suspension changes?
My car is a Sept '01 so hoping it has these newer items. It has the newer brake calipers (with only TVR printed on them).
Cheers in advance,
Malc

Yep, so I have the newer calipers (just TVR printed, no AP Racing logo, 320mm discs). Also have the steering rack spacers (5mm) uprights with additional holes to cater for longer upper wish bones. Not sure if the rack spacers were added by a previous owner, or as part of the later post-march '01 setup? Either way, happy days.
It also has new Gaz Golds (10 clicks from soft at the rear, 12 at the front).
Unfortuantely, its feeling pretty twitchy up over 60mph. Especially over uneven roads.
My other car is a 172 cup, so I'm used to something that handles. Perhaps I'm looking for too much.
So, some further questions:
1. Having the later setup, do I still need the 3mm wheel spacers? (I'm running 18" spiders).
2. Has anyone got some recommended geo settings for this later setup?
A search throws up this:
Front
-1.0 degrees camber (negative)
1.0mm (8minutes) toe in overall (divide by two for individual wheel toe)
Caster to max (5 degrees) (adjusted via moving both shims to front of upper ball-joint, as opposed to one either side)
Rear:
-1.5 degrees camber (negative)
3.0mm (24minutes) toe in overall (divide by two for individual wheel toe)
It also has new Gaz Golds (10 clicks from soft at the rear, 12 at the front).

some time this year have a service at Str8six they just down the Road from me and get them to do a set up and put me str8 and pay my cash

But is there a up to date Bush Kit for the Mk1 Tuscan? I mean to replace all the lot under the car? I do that my self as I give it a good lick of paint job on the frame and has any one done this?

Hi Tony,
Poly bush kit from TVR parts: tvr-parts.com
Droplinks and Exhaust mounting brackets from Racetech: /www.racetechdirect.co.uk
Ball joints and bolt kit from Powers: www.powersperformance.co.uk/
There are other dealers and the dealers listed above where used because they are either local or had good prices at the time of purchase.

Tbh.. Gaz Golds aren't great. They might be contributing to the twitchy-ness. A Tuscan can handle..It also has new Gaz Golds (10 clicks from soft at the rear, 12 at the front).
