Early Tuscan Worries
Discussion
Hi,
having been on Pistonheads and read all the horror stories about problems with Tuscans I am a worried man.
I have bought an early model (registered July2000) and am wondering what mods were carried out to later cars and which if any would have been applied through recalls to earlier models.
Also my car handles very poorly, especially on bumpy country B roads and I am wondering if this could be due to it having been upgraded to 18" wheels by the dealer without chnaging the suspension settings to suit.
Can anybody advise on things I should check, serious problems I might experience or handling mods.
Many thanks.

Mine handled awfully as well to the point i really regretted buying it.Steering wheel was all over the place over bump's and anywhere near a ton was SCARY!
But i recently had the red rose spec? suspension fitted (springs, shocks, anti-rollbar) and low and behold she is a different car best grand or so i could have spent and am now very pleased. Talking to joolz at joospeed is always handy and i think the nitron shocks which were being developed for the Tuscan are now ready you may want to consider these instead of the TVR upgrade.

I have a September 2000 car - I have not followed all of the drama about suspension this and settings that - there are as many experts as cars! - I would suggest that you invest a hundred quid or so, and take the car to somewhere like Micheldevers, and have them put on 1 degree of negative camber, 5 minutes of toe in all round and see how it feels (this data from Niel Anderson who designed the chassis). Tyres - I run mine at 24 all round, but again you will find people using a range from 22 to 26 for day to day use. Other upgrades - the keep yer lid on clip at the front is necessary, and there were improved door rubbers to stop leaks - if you have any.
