hello i am thinking of buying a tvr tuscan but have heard that the early ones either need the engine to be re built every 4-6000 miles or to have some mods done to it,if any body can give me any info on the above i would be most greatfull
cheers

If you buy an early car (2000/2001/possibly some of 2002) that's not yet had a rebuild, there's a certain, significant percentage chance it will need a rebuild. If it had a rebuild early in its life, there's still a certain, significant percentage chance it'll need another. However, a car with an engine rebuilt in the last couple of years should have an engine every bit as good as a new one.

The late mk1s don’t tend to have had or require rebuilds... uprated parts were used at the factory

Then again, there are an awful lot of early Mk1's out there with original engines still going strong. There is a table of owners experiences on here somewhere and some have done well over 60K miles on original engines.

A 13 year old post is revived? What made this come back from the dead?

Matti,

Talking of revival do you still have a Tuscan or do I recall that you sold it. Guess you miss us, or the car..... hence reviving memories. Lol . How you doing? Trust Ok.

Gday John,
How’s tricks. I have indeed sold the Tuscan. Got a bit disillusioned with it on the roads local to me. They’re too rough and the Tuscan just has too much built in bump steer. I could have put together a set of revised steering arms, but I really felt like a break from it.

Maybe I’ll comeback to a tvr or ultima one day, but getting my sanity back for now jester

Hi Matt,

Long time no speak !!! How's the new purchase going ?
Shame you never got the steering arm designed and manufactured......it would have been a popular initiative.

Hello Andrew,
yes new purchase goes and sounds amazing, starts, stops and doesn't try to kill me on rough surfaces. What more could you want. Its looking sunny this weekend so may head down to good wood for the first breakfast club of the year!

Have you got anywhere with the steering arms?

Hi again Matt,

Really pleased the new purchase is being enjoyed. Sounds good ! No I'm still going to be holding tight when I corner on poor road surfaces 😁 ! I've been putting the final touches to the interior by having John ( Trim Technician ) reupholster the seats. That will effectively complete the renovation and make the car look good as new.

Enjoy Goodwood...it's the perfect weather for a blat through the Sussex countryside !
