Tuscan Convertible questions

Had a Tamora a few years back and getting a TVR itch again, so a couple of questions if poss please..
The Tam, despite being the ugly sister, did allow me to fit as at 6'3" the standard Tuscans etc didn't allow enough headroom, I kept feeling my head was banging on the fixed bar, would a Tuscan convertible give a little more headroom, similar to the Tam. I don't really want to take the seat base out to allow me to sit in the car, too many compromises there. Budget didn't stretch to one of these before but pot is bigger this time around.
The Tam always felt it was about to break down, just a succession of niggly faults, am I right in thinking these later models are better put together ?
Is there a power difference between standard and S models ?
Anyone thinking of selling ?

I am 6ft 4 and have a MK1 Tuscan and no issues with head room etc. Think I have the pedal box in the centre and seat isn't all the way back. Or I could just be shaped like gollum.
I think once it is set up for you you shouldn't have any issues.

I know its been said Peter Wheeler was 6' something and wouldn't build a car he couldn't sit in but I'm obviously an odd shape 
The Tam seats were ok but can't remember which design they were, they didn't look like Tuscan seats and didn't have too much padding enabling me to sit quite low, certainly they were standard for the car. Does the soft top Tuscan give any more head clearance than a stock Tuscan ?

I am 6'1 and have no problems in the vert. I think there feels to be more room than my Mk1 but wouldn't swear on it. Best thing is to try one, happily let you sit in mine if you are in the SWest.
The later cars are defo better than the earlier cars, tams are in the middle , post '04 cars feel better screwed together although I think if not used you still get a few niggles.

When I sit in my convertible there is way more than a hands width of head clearance from the 'not very soft' soft top.
As said finish is better on the 2005 and 2006 Tuscan's, targa or convert.
Mine is a 2006 with over 70k miles now.
Sorry not and hopefully never for sale.
Mine's a non-S and I've never driven an S so cant say but where does the extra 10hp or so HP come from?

no problems with headroom with a thin seat cushion, in fact enough room for me with a helmet on.
Not sure it was better nailed together though, but after 2 years of ownership and it spending so much time at the dealers they had the keys to my garage so they could collect it and bring it back, I fell out of love with it and sold it...
I'd buy it back though.... but that would be £50k or so now.
S over standard - nothing in it IMHO. Mine was standard and went past Sags all day long on the track with 330 hp.

Good luck with your search, I spent nearly 9 months before I found one which is an S, and travelled the North and South before I found one in the West. I did see a lot of cars that were not up to the mark, and I got lots of information off TVR Mads who sold a lovely car just before I was ready to buy.
Differences as far as I know, better brakes, air con, spoiler on the front, I'm sure somebody will complete the list.
Had mine 4 years now and it's an incredible experience when I take it out, been to Monza, Belgium, France, Austria, and Portugal in it as well.

The standard car is no great shakes in the handling department and is no match for a Sagaris unless a God is driving the Tuscan and the Sag driver is 1/2 asleep.no problems with headroom with a thin seat cushion, in fact enough room for me with a helmet on.

Change to Billies valved as Sagaris, Sagaris Spring rates and a few other cheap set up tweaks and it will just about hang onto a standard Sag with the same gear/overall ratios.

Yep same here, great experience and many similar trips. Every year down to Spain, trips to Germany and France.
This year to the Algarve.
Don't mean to upset anyone but I got mine for £24k when it was 3 years old :-o
There was a 2005 going for the same price. Should have bought both.

I'm comparing the Tuscan Mk2, not the Mk1... and thanks for the compliment. The Sag driver was no slouch I can tell you... but the sag lacked a little top speed on the straight due to the big 'spoiler' on the rear and the tuscan just drove past it... perhaps I overstate my case a little, but the Mk2 convertibles were a huge leap on the mk1's and much closer to the sags, except for a little track width. My vert had the tweaks I described and was a none S car, with a 3.73 and CR box.
A great car when the mods were made.
