Been in love with Tuscans since they first came out, bought one last October with the intention of rejuvinating the paint work and the interior. The engine seems surprisingly solid!!!

I'm changing the sound system inside to include 4 speakers, 2 tweeters, one low profile sub and a double din radio. I'm thinking of using the current single din radio surround, however cutting a section away from the parcel shelf which will allow for the height of the double din. My question is though, has anyone done this and how does it look?

Cheers chaps

I haven't fitted a double DIN, but I have replaced the original unit and you need to know that the unit sits into a fibreglass surround recess in the dash. That recess is not what I would call "full length" - I fitted a Blaupunkt Toronto and had to relieve the fibreglass slightly, and remove the rear cables for remote USB etc. If you're fitting a double DIN unit it isn't just the height you'll need to think about.

Having spent time getting my DVD head unit which is only single din but "normal" depth to fit I would say that you are going to have to do a lot of cutting to get a double din unit to fit.
The cutting would probably have to include the silver cross brace.
Is there any reason why you are going for a double din. I have a single with a pop out screen for the sat nav which works perfectly but was a bit of a pig to fit flushly due to its depth.

Cheers chaps for the heads up.

I did have a sneaky suspicion it wouldn't be normal. My only saving grace is that I have the tools and knowledge to make the changes as needed. Knowing that it sits into a fibreglass surround now means I'll probably have to take the whole thing out and design up a fabrication with vents as the double dins, I suspect run hotter than single dins.
I know I'll have to remove to silver cross brace and cut a section out. I'll have to have a look at supporting the middle sections of the brace once its cut as well.
Might be worth relocating the door opener buttons.

My only fear is changing it too much. I prefer to keep the car looking at stock as possible, apart from the fact I'm also putting a full hide throughout the cockpit.

I'm going to investigate it more tomorrow so might put some photos up and a couple of sketches of what im thinking about.
