A simple job you may think but how do you replace the cable to the service bonnet?
Mine snapped after a nice December drive in the sunshine. I have the main bonnet off the car but the mechanism that holds the catch is bonded on. I cannot see an easy way to remove the sliding spiggot to fit the new cable ball end.

Has anyone done this job that could enlighted me?

Thanks

Steve

The black plastic end of the locking just pulls out with a bit of wiggling.
You can then get the old cable out with the ball end bit on it.
I used a bike brake cable inner as a replacement when mine went (I had one lying around the garage already) but I had to file the ball end bit to fit. It only took a couple of minutes.
Just be careful when doing the clamp screw up as the metal is soft.

Thanks for the info'.

I had to drill the plastic end out as it would not budge. New cable from TVR Parts £31. That is with club discount.

I just need to make a new plastic end cap now.

Cheers

A cable from Halfords (or your nearest bike place) is about £2 and you can make two from that.
It appears to be the same stuff (same diameter according to the measurements that I took when doing mine) and possibly stronger as it is used for brakes.

Indeed, bike cable. I went to my local push bike shop and bought gear cable (stronger wind than brake) and it was only a few pounds. Job done smile

There really is nothing special about this part!
