Hello,

A couple of years ago, before I bought my Chimaera, I hired a wonderful Tuscan S for a day and drove everywhere with the targa top off and the rear window out.
What is the refinement (if that's the right word) like with all the panels in place? My Chimaera is quite a loud place with the roof on - mostly wind noise from the front edge and where the windows meet the targa panel. Is the Tuscan much better?
I'd like to change to a Tuscan at some point, so just curious to know what they are like on the occasions you have the roof on?

I 'killed' my first Tuscan 6 years ago and so cant remember too much other than to say, on the day she died, I had dropped the window down so that I could properly hear the howl of the speedsix as I accelerated.
I memory serves me, it was good. It was also good with the roof on and the rear window out.
I now have a Tuscan convertible which is based on the Griff/Chimaera design but that I still find pretty good.

I suppose that its becoming apparent that I have TVR deafness and don't realize it.

PS: mine is decatted and me and my Wife normally drive down to Spain every year and hardly speak the whole way as we normally have the windows down (keep forgetting to fix the A/C).

It's fairly loud but a long way from intolerable. In less than sunny conditions, or longer motorway journeys, I tend to travel with the roof on and rear window out.

Sounds like it could be better than the Chimaera then - too much wind noise to make long driving holidays much fun if the roof has to go on.

I had a Chimaera before and I know what you mean as I didn't particularly enjoy driving it with the roof on!
The Tuscan however I find to be a very pleasant place to be with the roof on and is much quieter.

Generally pretty good, the squeaking will annoy you more than the engine noise yes

I agree - quite happy driving the with the Tuscan roof on, Chimaera not so much.

I found it a bit more civilised and quieter. A solid panel is better than a piece of fibre I suppose. indeed the squeaking noise can get to you, but it is not something you can't resolve.

Own a 4.3 full de-cat. It's louder inside with the roof on and all panels in, just taken to France last weekend, whenever it's dry I drive roof on windows up and rear screen out, it's somehow quieter inside but you can hear the exhaust PPP and crackle too. Subsequently I get a heavy right foot too!

I hope I've found the solution!

I've just renewed the main door/targa seal. Got that from TVR Parts, and atm, seems the best seal profile/material I've had occasion to use.

On the recommendation of an ex Blandford Sports cars (TVR)technician, I also had a go with the pin 'holder' on the targa panel. The two approaches have addressed most of the rattles and squeaks. I've also silicone sprayed the recess for the rear window and renewed the helicopter tape on the rear window itself.
