Anorak on. Not a rude question but.......on my 2000 Tuscan with 18" rims it also sports black wheel nuts which are looking a little manky now. If memory serves correct, earlier cars than this were delivered with nicy shiny chrome wheel nuts. Practically every photo of the latest cars I have seen are also black.

Just wondering whether there is any good reason for this other than TVR just changed their supplier in the past? I think the chrome look better.

I've got SHINY nuts!

My silver wheels had plain steel nuts. Got some chrome plated by Leven, which are better, but Leven apologised to me that they are not VERY shiny, they had some problems - it is tricky, they say.
Old ones went rusty!

We have changed the sub-contractor for all of our plating, nuts and badges since the last posting. The quality and lead time are now much better.

I am sure we can now offer shiney nuts for all of those who want them!

I'd like my nuts to be shiney too !

I need to buy a tyre lever arm to remove my old black n rusty nuts. Does anyone know if Halfords etc sell a decent sized one so I can get good leverage ?

Cheers

I mean a wheel brace !!

Not the standard 4 nut size one, a longer one so I can get decent leverage !!

Does that make sense ?

Yes! Perfectly!
I have a Draper tyre lever with extendable handle for extra leverage. Also has a detachable end offering 2 different socket sizes for different nuts - one of which fits the Tuscan perfectly. Cannot remember how much but probably looking at £20. Its good quality and should never rust.

Oh, and I think I did get it from Halfords.

Better still - get a torque wrench - gives you the leverage to get em off, and lets you tighten them properly and safely - nothing worse than having your nuts too tight (I use 85 ftlbs - later found out that 80 is the recommendation, but having used 85, you cant go back coz of thread stretch)- always handy to know yer nuts are pucker!

Sorry for the delay - was in a slight time warp - it was Niel Anderson - who apparently designed the chassis on the Tuscan - but he said thats what all the TVR technicians are trained to use.
