5 litres of Dulux Salsa Melt (blood red) paint tipped over in my boot, i had the roof and screen in their at the time but mercifully they were saved. After a lot of scraping,swearing etc... the boot still look's like i have transported the Mother-in-law to a secluded spot. Look's like a total boot carpet replacement although the MP3 changer looks quite funky in red (still works!)Anybody ever had to have this stuff replaced before? Would like to know what i am looking at in term's of cost.
Had three other can's in there at the time but they were fine it seem's that because this paint was 'mixed' on request the top was put on manually as opposed to the other's mechaniclly done, Unfortunately it was a favour from a friend who work's for Dulux so i can't really go down there and throttle someone, i suppose i should have taken the Saab.....but it 'was' such a nice hot day it seemed like a shame to waste it.
Have decided to be philosophical about it after all thing's could have been far worse, yuz got to count ya blessings

I used to work at Homebase, and the amount of people that used to cart paint about with out securing it, was hilarious. They used to come in and complain when it spilt everywhere in the boot, backside, passenger seat/footwell DUH!, so we kindly pointed to the bit that says 'store in an upright position' (or words to that effect)
There is nothing worse than working in customer service thats all. The fact that you were prepared to blame someone else (but didn't cause it was a mate) gets my goat.
I better stop there because I have years of pent up frustration at dullard customers that will not accept the fact that the buck stops with them or will not accept the responsibility for their actions. If you tear the bag of composte on your boot latch, its your fault and not ours for not making stronger bags etc. etc.

Ironically the people that politely said 'Look I have a bit of a problem' we bent over backwards for, and because we had the equipment and had done it before we did a proper job. Petty, I know, but it is the same as the Chef spitting in your food if you send it back to be heated up.
I am upset for you messing up your car but I hope the statement about 'having a go at someone' was just a figure of speech.

Sorry about the late reply. But i didn't think there was anymore on this thread. I think you are right though, you do have a lot of 'pent up frustration..' Just for your information i did take it up with Dulux after speaking to my friend and they have agreed that they are at fault since the can was 'mixed' and thus manually sealed it should have had some clips put on at the cost of 5p each. Needless to say they wre not.
They have however agreed to pick up the tab for the damage so i suppose although 'it get's your goat' customers (dullard or otherwise) are correct to complain if they beleive their complaint to be well founded, it's down to you guys in customer services (based on what you have said so far you were in the wrong job big time!!) to make the ultimate decision based on your respective store policies.
As for 'chef's spitting in food' or allowing paint to dry a bit so you have an amusing story for the staff room at 'fag break time' being acceptable, what can i say? Either of these action's would prompt me to 'have a go at someone' and no i am not talking figuratively.
Great looking cerb. by the way (that should release some of the frustration Oh yes and if you do own or work in a restauarnt could you by any chance send me detail's? (so that i and other's can avoid

it would sound like even though you put a blanket around the can of paint it stil fell over , g-force is a funny thing you know , the point is if you have some potentially messy stuff in the boot don`t drive like a twat and it will not fall over , and if it do`s fall over it is your fault quite simple really

Be very pleased that you don't work in America...
You'd be in prison and your family would have to smuggle crack to pay for what you put those poor people through - fancy not anticipating simple things like boot latches.
In a similar vein - anyone got any good ideas on removal of baby sick from velour or suede car seats. If you think paint is bad, wait till you try to get rid of that stuff - its like nuclear waste, no matter what you do it keeps coming back until the half-life has passed and the bloody smell...... ergh its disgusting.....
Paint would be nicer and simpler.... Still hope you manage to get it out. If all else fails a carpet replacement shouldnt be a major issue. They are standard type (hard wearing etc), and hopefully TVR can supply the set. Then it is a case of getting it stuck in there. Might be worth getting someone who is handy with carpets / fitting..... might loose a little skin to knifes and hard to reach places..... Nasty carpet burns from that stuff (ooerr)...
