Can somebody please cheer me up

... and remind me how the Tuscan's like no other car (in a good way), and how people would sell there soul to own one. Please.
Since Easter, it's been off the road for:
* 3 weeks to have it shipped back from France (ruining my holiday) to have the clutch replaced
* 3 weeks to have uprated throttle bodies fitted
* 2 months to have its second engine rebuild
* 3.5 weeks so far (and another 3.5 weeks to go) with it being in the bodyshop just having a few scuffs and scratches sorted out from someone pulling across into it (and the stone chips taken out of the front end while they're at it. It's taken the insurance company till yesterday to get someone out to approve the quote
* A week in servicing and getting the handling sorted
So, when I get it back it'll have been off the road for 22 weeks out of 40. Please don't try telling me it's not TVR's fault, etc. etc. or that it's what I should expect - this thread isn't about attributing blame (there's plenty to go around). It's about me being so f
ing sick of having to drive my 206 all the time that I've upgraded the runabout to another "sports" car (I use that term loosely for those of you that know what it is...).
All the while paying out thousands on insurance, road tax, etc. not to mention having the all that money tied up in a car that's, literally, off the road more often than on.
I know the car will be better than new when I get it back, leaner, faster, stronger, shinier, etc. with every last thing in it being latest spec, guaranteed, and so on. But, right now, I'm not sure I care any more.
Edited to add: Forgot to mention I had to spend 6 months worth of evenings getting legal on the previous owner over misrepresenting the spec of the car to me...

It IS like no other car. What other car can make you smile just when you look at it. And that's from ANY angle too.
There are very few cars that sound that good either.
And even less that go quicker.
You can remember .... think about it a bit .... there, you see the grin's coming back already
Get drunk and look forward to the new year. You'll be driving it again soon.
It would be even worse having it in the garage and not being able to drive it ... like I might be doing soon if the NIP I got issued shows the speed I think I was doing at the time

You are suffering what many go through, but be assured your condition is not fatal. Take a long look at your keyring. Does it say Tuscan? If so you are indeed a fortunate individual. You will have heard and seen many dodgy diagnosis by quite frankly quacks who aspire but have yet to sample the joys of bringing up a very gifted child. Yes it will drive you mad with stupid unneccasary faults, but isn't any genius flawed?
Really, keep the faith, a Tusc on full chat is the finest car available for the money. I know they can frustrate the life out of you. (See my end of Dec post)but can you honestly say that the smile isnt fixed on your face when you eventually get behind the wheel. Stick with it, you know it makes sense.

Sorry. Tbh, havent a clue, I like other peoples suggestions of a Noble (though they have thier own issues), I dont think I could tolerate a car that spends half its time out of my hands.
Perhaps its time for the 456 + an excellent warrantee??

Hopefully there will be a few more TVR dealerships on the continent as the UK Govt have British Low Vol made into Euro Low Vol. Seems that there are a few around now though - Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Zurich and Geneva which should help out in times of crisis...
Were the throttle bodies by choice btw - I mean when you say 'uprated' - kind of interested for mine. Still 3 weeks to fit seems terrible...

having been in america working for the last 3months the first i did yesterday upon returning was warm up the tuscan treat it to a gentle meander around suffolk and the grin started the moment the garage door opened i dont think it has subsided yet this morning i treated it a bit more forcefully and the grin got bigger. there is no other car that can do that.

I feel for you, as I know what it's like to be deprived of your car for a long time. But, chin up mate, it'll be back soon and I can imagine after about the first few miles in it you'll look like an advert for Oral-B....
My current car, a Mitsubishi GTO twin turbo, has been off the road since Jan 7th.....so nearly a year. Died 2 days before I left my permie job to go self-employed, I didn't get paid for 2.5 months, it was another month before I could afford some of the parts, then I had to send the heads away to be done, had to wait another month or so to get a few more parts, and it's been (and still is) sitting on the drive at my parent's house waiting for the time when either myself or my Dad have the time to work on it....oh, and the weather has to be good as we have no cover (won't fit in the garage).
I pay the insurance in one hit, so that's cost me just under £1500 for nothing, on top of all the bits and the rental cars I've paid for over the last year (ouch!). Yes I could have bought a cheap one, but the always seems to be "just a few weeks from being fixed", so I never did.
Consequently, I want to go for a Tuscan S next year....even if it does break down, I can give it to someone else to fix!!
You may not have seen it for a while, but you own one of the most awe-inspiring cars ever to touch tarmac. You've had a rough patch, but it'll all be worth it....and you know it!

It's 300BHP, it's unnecessarily loud, it's faster than any "normal" car on the roads, yet I'd never want to take it out for a drive. It's just not an experience - there's no real individual character to it.
