Another stereo upgrade experiment
Discussion
Just reading through the previous solutions but want a simple and cheaper fix. I'm looking at upgrading the rear roll-bar pillar speakers and adding an active sub-woofer. Anyone tried this.... it won't cure the imaging problem but should get a good sound out of it. Also can anyone advise on rear speaker upgrades and how do I get to the rear of the head unit/ remove the pod and run the cables ?
Just an update on how things went. I bought a Panasonic active subwoofer CJ-BL150 which is about 1ft/10in/2in (length/width/depth). The advantages are that it is tiny, easy to wire up (just plugs in to most modern head units and doesn't even need a direct live feed from the battery) and is relatively cheap.I put some capacitors in line with my pioneer 4 inch speakers in the roll bar to stop any bass nodes/popping at high volumes. It has transformed the sound and because the low frequency response is so good, the imaging problem isn't so extreme. I would recommend this to anybody. Its a cheap and easy fix.
I got the sub from www.mcs-direct.co.uk who were very efficient and good value(£166.25+postage I think).
