Have you had a look through the prices in the classifieds? Prices have firmed up a bit over the last couple of years.

I don't think 20k will get you a good Mk1 S, never mind a Mk2. You should be able to get a good Mk1 with recent engine rebuild within your budget, or go in at the lower end and keep the rest to sort out issues.

You definitely won't see a Tuscan 2 for below 24k. You should be able to get a mk1 with engine rebuild in your budget, maybe an s but not necessarily with an engine rebuild.

Thanks Guys. The TVR mads one owner in the classifieds looks excellent but will go before I'm ready (inheritance). I'd be more than pleased with a loved Mk1. Rebuild or no rebuild as I've heard a well run original can be just as good an investment?
I'm wanting a keeper so ideally would prefer to buy from a PHdr and avoid the dealer mark up. A Mk1, reflex charcoal with shadow wheels, portland half hide with blue carpets would be perfect! wobblewoohoo

Reflex charcoal is gorgeous..I'm not sure I've seen any mk 1s in that colour though. I would definitely go for one with a rebuild if I were you as you are looking at at least 5.5k for an engine rebuild otherwise - and the highest figures without a rebuild...very rarely exceed 50k from what I've seen.

Main things to check apart from rebuild is shocks being replaced and clutch - oh and be VERY careful in the wet or the car WILL try to kill you wink

42yearoldvirgin, mine could be for sale at the right price.
Its a mk2 S, charcoal reflex, smoke wheels, Power rebuild with balance of Power warranty and new grey/black leather etc.

correction to above, Mk1 S, NOT mk 2. Sorry folks, too much of the red stuff with dinner.

Looked at that one 666, seems a bit of a shabby interior for the price.

Hope I don't upset any fellow Tuscan owners and I did own an early model that had 2 rebuilds at 35k and 70k but, the early engines had some material and oil way problems.
Also, if it was an early rebuild by TVR (like mine had), the rebuild had the same materials and no oil way improvements.
Post 2004 engines are the target.
Good luck, you won't regret it.

One at 12k and another at 16k so no upset here. The real problem units seemed to be pre 2nd half of 2002 but definitely the later the better or a recent Power/Str8Six going over.

Mine lasted 61k before it needed a build. There was rumour that it had, had a rebuild at some stage in its life inbetween, but no paperwork to prove it.

If it was factory there wasn't any paperwork. All I've got is a note on an invoice for a replacement clutch fitted during second one saying discounted due to engine problems.
