am I the only one? I seem to be being persecuted by birds the last two few times I've been out birds have taken it upon themselves to 'unload' all over my bonnet! the last one actually left a mark in the paint work, only slight but in the right light I can see it!
what can I do to help? can I rub out with a t cut type product?,i'm going to be more frequent with my canuba wax

Have to get it off ASAP as the acid will etch the paint if you are unlucky. Easiest product to access is Autoglym Super Resin Polish. It is very slightly abrasive. If the mark doesn't come out after a good rubbing then move on to their Paint Renovator or similar. Should come out with that but if not then some heavier duty solutions might be called for.

Assuming it hasn't been left ages - wash as normal to remove surface contaminants then use a clay bar with a decent amount of lube such as a spray like "quick detailer" and remove with a microfibre. Then wax as the clay bar will take off previous wax. Then leave the bottle of quick detailer in the car with a microfibre and anytime in future birds decide to leave a deposit you can immediately spray and wipe off before it can do any damage.

people have mentioned clay bars to me before,i'll have to check it out.the mess was on for less than an hour I just didn't notice ,the major draw back with black cars is the way they show any imperfection

If the poo has marked the paint, then it's usually etched into the Clear Coat. Clay bar won't remove it because it's not a contaminate that can be removed.

It will need some polishing compound and a machine polish to remove the mark.

Bird crap needs to removed immediately from paint because it's acid. Makes you wonder what birds eat!

Ensuring the paint is protected with regular polish and wax will help protect it.

I thought bird crap was alkaline?

Plenty of layers of a good caraunba wax help prevent the problem in the first place as the crap doesnt stick so much.

Don't park under trees or wires

Did you know that birds tend to crap on cars that are a similar co;our to the bird. (research has been done) So pigeons tend to crap on grey ones, blackbirds on blacl ones and parronts on cascade indigo TVR's

On a scorching hot summer's day a couple of years ago I visited a mate in Cheltenham in my black Chimaera. I left it parked outside his flat for 10 minutes, and when I came down I was horrified to find it had been completely carpet-bombed by the local feral albatrosses. There was so much of the stuff it covered about a third of the front end, and the sun was so strong that it had already baked the st hard. Repeated washing/polishing got most of it out eventually, but there were some marks that never shifted completely.

Ever since, I've always removed bird crap on sight and avoided parking under trees or lamp posts.

farecla g10 is a fine polishing abrasive that you can try to use to remove some bird staining, I've used it with success, but as always, it depends on if the damage is surface or deeper.

g10 will buff back to a bright finish easily

the more coarse polishing abrasives like g3 etc will need to be finished with g10 afterwards

Had this before on my chimaera dreaded seagulls gently soak the poo; drip water on it and allow the water alone to wash it away where possible and do not be tempted to rub it or it may scratch the paint. Also as has been already said if the poo has been left on and eaten the lacquer then the damage has been done unfortunately
