In a quandry...stay or go?
Discussion
As some of you may recall, my engine was destroyed by a conrod through the block last June. It was rebuilt with a new block by Dom at Power. It had a new clutch, lightweight flywheel, ball joints, electrics and brakes done and a host of other bits done at the same time.
I drove it home 2 months ago and all felt great. It has since sat in my garage unused. I know the weather is a factor but don't seem to have much interest in driving her. I am training 5 days a week to swim the channel and will be doing this for the next 2 years. I am swimming 2 relays this year and a solo in 2016. This has kind of taken over much of my spare time. I often still go and have a look at the car and check windows etc work and the battery charger is on but don't have much desire to go driving. I have an old Jag XJR for everyday use. I just don't seem to have much interest in the Tuscan.
I am toying with selling her. I may regret it as it has been a labour of love. She was bought as a cat D after going through fresh flood water which destroyed the engine and front grille. She had an engine rebuild, full change of colour respray, new carpets, seats, doorcards, gaiters, alloy radiator, battery, speedo refurb, steering rack refurb as well as a heap of other stuff. She now has a 3 year engine warranty, new clutch and flywheel etc.
What would she be worth and any thoughts on whether she should stay or go?

It always sucks to have invested so much to then have to bite the bullet when selling - as you'd probably get about 17k or so for it.
If you find you now associate it with hassles I guess maybe it has tainted the car in your mind - either you forge some great memories with your car to replace the previous ones or you may as well sell it.
Maybe plan a few days of nice driving this summer in scotland or europe and see if it changes your mind?

For one reason or another I haven't driven my car for 18 months. As it happens I've no desire to do anything but keep it. If ever it pops into my mind that it might be sensible to sell I think about the handful of cars from my past I wished I still had and I see so many (especially) ex-TVR owners on here who wish they'd never sold. That always puts the thought right out of my mind.
Agree with everyone so far. Like you, I have invested so much time and money into my car. Because its a Cat D I'll never get the money I've invested out. Having got her on the road this year, I've been having niggles and things weren't quite right...then yesterday, I got those niggles sorted and the tracking done, and NO I LOVE THAT CAR
Dropped the kid off with his mate around 12:30 and was going to go home, only a few miles away....ended up going on a 100mile detour and found a road that made me grin from ear to ear with no one else on it. You will have that kind of experience again, of that I'm sure so make the effort to take her out once a month with like minded owners and for those few days alone it'll be worth keeping her.
From a totally pragmatic point of view, they are not depreciating, so would you rather have a Trev in the garage or a wad of cash, that doesn't reflect the time effort and money you've invested, sat in some banker's vault doing nothing?
Sorry, but I'm biased.

I am already!
I've had my first enquiry and am stalling!! Head says sell, heart says don't!
I can see why you have had interest, it's a gorgeous looking car and the colour is unique. Good luck with the sale, just remember until you agree a price, the advert can be taken down again.

Oh bu**er! I have two offers on the table, so thought I'd take her for a run round the block. Not sure I can let her go...I know only I can decide but it is a tough one.
If you do sell then I'm gonna come and park mine in Southwater Country Park on evenings that you're taking a dip...That'll learn ya
