Anyone viewed the yellow Tuscan at str8six?

Am after a nice TVR (preferably a targa or tamora) for my France trip and I think that one in str8six is stunning. But being a complete novice at tvr's and never owned or driven one whats people's opinions on that one?
Are str8six the type of reputable people you could have faith over the phone that it would be accurate as described over the phone?

Sorry for being a little negative but I've had some bad experiences with dealers (non tvr ones) but the tvr community does seem very supportive and friendly.

Viewed the blue tamora at HHC yesterday and thought it was lovely but mileage on original engine scares me a little.

Jason and the team there are all first class. High integrity. Go see it. It will be as described and you will receive ace service. Folks travel for miles to have their car's serviced by them...and I mean Continental Europe!

If this is your first TVR, then there is no where better to go than Str8six.
Jason only sells cars that have had a thorough going over, and with a no quibble 12 month warranty on everything, you will have total piece of mind.
Jason and his team are an absolute pleasure to deal with and will tell you as it is.
I have brought and sold two cars from them and would not let distance put me off, you really won't be disappointed, they are a great bunch of people that know there stuff.

Brilliant thanks. The car in question looks like new... But would it be better to buy a newer S?

I'm really wanting a good reliable tvr that will hold its money the best and that one is almost decent s money...,

Not that I really know the differences between the s and non s or even mk1 and 2 (hangs my head in shame)

I recently bought the Swordfish Tuscan S from Str8six - As others have said, you can buy with piece of mind that the car won't let you down - If Jason/Chas says it's good it will be. I placed a deposit blind over the phone, now it's sat in my garage I'm bloody glad I did!! On viewing, if your not happy with something, talk to them they will listen - trust me I'm a fussy fker!
I know I'm biased but you really can't go wrong.

Another happy customer, all great to hear.

Now what about your knowledgeable thoughts on the car, what are your thoughts on the cars value and spec.

STR8SIX have a very good reputation, mileage is good , especially with a rebuild but 7 previous owners is high... If they were enthusiasts then fine.
Sounds like you only want it for one trip ... then go for it. You don't sound like an enthusiast who is going to keep it as their P&J. frown ... or maybe I'm wrong.

PS Yellow cars are great, but they don't half attract flies .... and fly st . smile .

Must have missed the 7previous owners part.

I am a huge petrol head and tvr fan but never been in the financial position to get one until now. I am planning on keeping it hence the reason I said I wanted one that would hold its money... (So I can justify it to my wife and in laws).

Had a few specialist cars such as 147gta's Clio v6 etc but not to this extreme.

After this Europe trip I will only bring it out on summer days and garage it the rest of the time and prob sorn it over winter months.

I'm trying to justify the price for a 2000 Tuscan.

It will be good - don't get too hung up on the ownership number - Re-trimmed, engine rebuild 7000 miles agothumbup for starters!!
Go have a look see - you'll know!!
I really feel that it wouldn't be money wasted.

Buy the car you like, stuff the price. As far as I'm concerned, if you buy a good MK1 Tuscan now and cherish it, it's an appreciating asset. The good ones will always command strong money, as there are a fair share of dogs out there.

Do you mean appreciating asset? I hope so.

I might give them a call this week smile

How do you get on with the flies with your Cerb ??? All the other TVR owners used to love my yellow Chim , because it kept the flies off their cars smile .

Sorry OP, "appreciating" was what I meant!

Glow worm, I've only had the yellow Cerbera since September and covered only a few hundred miles. We shall see at Burghley, all being well! I do love the colour though; it is Halcyon Midas Pearl so looks wonderful in the sunshine.

The flies are attracted to cars in proper colours you see. wink

Sounds like a similar colour to liquid yellow Renault sport use?

Yellow pearl in the sun is beautiful

Very similar to Liquid yellow, yes. It's a lovely colour, although an acquired taste. The yellow Tuscan looks great, I had spotted it. If I hadn't had a Cerbera prior, I may have kept my old Tuscan. She was a right little madam to drive though.

Is that Tuscan yellow pearl too?

That is my other worry, I could put a deposit on it but hate the drive! A tvr owner has already said he hates the way the Tuscan drives which worries me.

I'm sure I could adapt like I have with all my cars and never really drove a car I've thought I couldn't get on with but the tvr is no doubt a whole new ball game...

I believe the steering is very sensitive ?

An early Tuscan is an acquired taste. I didn't drive mine until after the handover, and it scared the bejesus out of me. I took a break after about 1.5 miles and put my head in my hands. You can calm them down with wheel spacers and upgraded shocks, but they are inherently twitchy, not least due to the steering rack which is only 1.7 turns lock to lock.

PS - That Tuscan looks to be solid yellow.

Sounds intimidating! Can't the steering rack not be changed without huge cost?

I discussed the idea of putting a Tuscan 2 rack on mine, which was 2 turns lock to lock, but decided against it on originality grounds. It could be done though.

On the flip side, the brakes are the most astonishing brakes I have ever used in a car by a huge margin, phenomenal. The engines are blood-curdling, the dash is like something from an art gallery, and the view over the humps of the bonnet is wonderful. They are such an event and not for a second do I ever regret having bought mine. Even the 4.5 Cerbera doesn't feel anything like as savage in a straight line, or in the bends.

I'm sure Jason would only sell one with the steering sorted
