I've now got the car up on the ramps since it's snowing and I won't be using it for a while. The front discs are in a state, so new disks and pads are on order. I haven't looked at the back ones yet, but I presume I'll be changing them. Also noticed that the front Racing Reds are seeping. I've also got some squeeks coming from the chassis, so I guess it's new bushing time. So heres the questions:

Does anyone know if you can get Ferodo DS2500 pads for the rear brakes?
Are the rear discs nicked from something else?
Is it possible to get seal kits for Racing Reds. They seem to have dissapeared from the net so I presume they're no longer available.
If I have to change shocks, which ones? I'm not prepared to pay for Ohlins, but are Nitrons the next best thing?
Are polybushes the way to go? When I had my Chim it was the done thing to change to these, but I haven't heard of anyone fitting these on a Tuscan.

Cheers

I bought a set of rear DS2500 pads and then immediately bought some yellow stuff so still in the box, happy to sell them on but I don't want to give them away.

Racing Reds were (i believe) made by Nitron, as they offer a refurb service on regular Nitrons they may help you with the RR's; give them a phone (they never respond to emails!!)

I've heard differing reports about the tie-up between racing red and nitron, but I'll give them a call. Certainly wortha try.

Hi Duncan,

If you want to see what the tuscan is like on Nitrons, give me a shout and i'll let you drive mine. I've also done a lot with the geo setup to get it right.

Give me a shout if you have any questions

I'd love to know what it's like but I assume you are miles away from me here in Essex?

Hi Guys,

Duncan you should take Matt up on that offer.

I would say its as good as any Mk 1 that I've driven.

Thanks for the offer Matt. I've just ordered some Nitrons anyway with the intension of servicing the racing reds and passing them on.

The new front discs and pads are on. I thought I could salvage the rear ones, but they're shot. New ones on the way. Just aswell I did'nt ask for anything expensive for Christmas.

Then it's time to check out the bushes. At least they're not a wallet breaker.

Where did you order the Nitrons from out of interest? I'm going to fit some in a couple of months so am on the lookout for the best prices.

I'm also interested to hear how you get in with the bushes. I haven't heard/read about many people changing to poly's.

I've gone for the ones with Eibach springs from TVR power. I'm not going down the route of polybushes at the moment. I'm just going to change any that need done with rubber ones.

I would avoid polybushing....I went down this route and ended up changing them back.

More NVH for no perceived benefit.

I thought the poly bushes might squeak or give a harsh ride so was erring towards replacing mine with std new ones.

There appears to be 3 different Nitrons on Powers site, presumably they are
- std nitron with nitron springs
- std nitron with eibach springs
- new? 46mm Nitrons with nitron springs?

Anyone had experience between these? If the spring rates are the same, what advantage is there with eibach springs over the originals?

That was my thoughts with the polybushes. not so much squeeking, but possibly a harsher ride.

I didn't even look at the race pro shocks. It was an unexpected expense and I went way over what I wanted to spend. I see Gaz now make something similar, but there doesn't seem to be much experience of these either.
