I'm going to have to remove this for the first time due to issues with the door encoders and with the stereo (which I believe I need to remove via a bolt under the dash as it's the old style without the door open buttons either side of it's pod)

My problem is that the rear bolt under the air vent is not perpendicular to the vent hole, so I can see it but not bring a socket to bear on it... there is also pretty limited space for a universal joint to be put between socket and ratchet!

Has anyone got a neat solution for this?

The bolt under the dash holds the radio pod on. For the centre console pull out the ashtray and there is a fixing screw under there. To get to the rear fixing screw you have to pull out the vent first. HTH

Think I used a flexible screwdriver on mine.

Like this

Flexi Screwdriver

Also useful fir undoing the allen key type bolts on the replacement aluminium rear window clips etc. Used it alot on the Tuscan

Thanks guys. I tried my flexi driver but just couldn't get the breakaway torque required... maybe a bit more perseverance or a better driver might suffice.

You have pulled the vent out?

No I hadn't pulled the rear vent... Only the ashtray. There didn't seem to be much give from the rear vent and I was reticent to make a mess.

Must try harder ;-)

As soon as I get back to her I will... previous experience with interior and exterior fittings has taught me not to force things TOO much!
