The elements in boot lock had contrived to mean that closing the boot wouldn't 'lock' it and could be lifted up and opened with the tiniest force.

So I took to wiggling both cables about through the dual gromit holes in the boot and try as I might I could not get the electric release cable to have enough give in it to allow the latch to reach the proper closed position. So I undid the latch and removed the cables and adjusted... then the problems started :P

So I accidentally uncoupled the release solenoid cable from the arm attached to the button. After getting this back on (I look like a self harmer and I think the neighbours kids learned some new words in that 20 minutes). I now realise that I can't get the 'r' shaped cable ends into the plastic guides which are in the holes in the brassy latch itself with the others attached as needed.

(I WISH I had taken pics now)
I didn't want a fully open tuscan so I managed to get the 'other' cable which is longer into the hole for the electric release. I don't see how I am going to be able to get the short electric cable attached to the latch while it is attached to the arm inside the body. There is no room to work.

I am hoping someone knows a trick of which order to attach everything so that i'm not left with about 1mm of play which is not enough to 'seat' the end of the cable. Perhaps there is a page in the manual on what to do.

I hope someone knows what I am prattling on about! I have a wedding to attend on Monday and its less than stylish to be using 'alternative methods of entry' if people know what I mean. Not a massive problem but I have Saturday and Sunday to try to get this all re-aligned.

PS. I think the problem came from my mechanic friend misinterpreting my instructions on the secret method and not that the mechanism itself is knackered. ( its cheap to replace but I still need to know how to get it all back in! )

Any advice / tips will be massively appreciated!

Hi , I think i know what you mean ...I recently fitted an 's' rear spoiler with some LED lights where the reflectors go ...so had the pleasure of delving into the rear of the car for drilling bolt holes.

If you remove the complete rear boot carpet and the light housings, you'll see 2 bolts that hold the solenoid actuator mechanism in place (looking into the boot from behind the car , on the left of center , half way down). If you remove these and also remove the complete boot lock (2 bolts) you'll have more room to relocate the mechanism in the lock. The whole assembly will become clear to you when you spend some time looking at it ....confused
I also had to cut an additional access hole (at the top of the boot )with a dremmel to make things a liitle easier ...but it's also covered with carpet afterwoods ...hope it make some sense.
have fun and good luck
Matt
