i keep my car in the garage, but am considering a cover of some sorts.does anyone have any recomendations/experience?
is it better not to have a cover for maximum air circulation?or cover to protect paint?or can a cover even damage the paint your trying to protect?

I will never cover a GRP car due to the risk of microblistering

microblistering please explain, I have a VX220 under an indoor cover no problems over the last 6 years, the Tuscan has one, bought from the TVR owners club mag sprint, and I noticed the other day what I thought was just imperfections in the lacquer, could this be what you are talking about?
Can send pictures of the cover I have but not sure how to put them on here, it is a very soft indoor cover fitted.

I have an all-weather cover-zone cover on my Tuscan and had one on my Chimaera with no issues.

got one of their covers on my Tuscan with no problems whatsoever - and that's on top of a Surface&Design gorgeous and very expensive paint job.

+1 got the cover included when I bought from RG - no problems whatsoever; it's got a very fleecy lining.
In fact when I don't put it on the pesky spiders up in the roofspace crap all over the bonnet. Must get up there with the vaccuum laugh

Its not the cover that scratches the car, more the dust on the car when cover goes on or even dust on the cover when it goes on.
If a car is garaged I really don't see the point of covering. Will do more harm than good.

Yes quite right only put the cover on when it has just been cleaned and preferably polished.
Really showing my OCD now!

They have a few different indoor versions available, is there a recommendation for a particular type?

I have had one of their blue indoor covers for years http://www.classicadditions.com/soft-indoor-covers... ,used it on both of my Tuscans just to keep the dust off, no issues with the paintwork on either.

+1 for Classic Additions
Had mine for 5 years, they still look like new . But I only put on the day after washing, you don't want to put on dusty or damp paintwork. You often see paintwork blotches if you open the boot lid and look where the water collects on the flat of the rear panel, so always dry it off smile .

Paint is porous and can absorb moisture with micro blistering it looks like the car has measles even worse when the glass fibre strands absorb the moisture has to be stopped to bare fibre glass and moisture dried out before respiratory I am just not prepared to take that risk for the sake of washing off the dust seen this happen on quite a few lotus cars
