I've been using the Tuscan a lot more over the last few weeks and was driving down to London last week. Wasnt pushing the car as there was quite a lot of traffic at 1pm on the M1. Doing about 70ish in the third lane and I heard a loud popping noise. The rear windscreen was now wing its way towards the poor unfortunate soul in the car behind me! It was very lucky that it didnt hit anyone. There has been a little bit of damage to the windscreen surround (chipped paint) but it could have been much worse. Ive had the windscreen replaced at Racing Green, who were excellent btw, and while I was there John replaced the brackets that hold the window in. Its worth pointing out that I have not taken the rear windscreen out once since buying the car. So just a little note for you guys to check that the brackets and windscreen are totally secure. I would like to know if this has happened to anyone else and where I stand in terms of the damaged paintwork.

That's not a unique occurence, though.

Presumably yours is the later/newer screen that's a bit bigger and supposed to be a better fit too?

Krusty had the same thing happen a few weeks ago on Eurohoon... was about 50 yards behind him in my Tusc at the time.

Did you have your windows open at the time, or did the catches just "let go"?

I have noticed on the odd occasion when opening boot that one or other of the catches were open. Up till now I just assumed this was me not doing them up properly. I guess I am lucky that not both at the same time have come undone. I will get them checked.

The windows were shut and that added to the rather scary popping noise as the window came off!

Yup, sure are. Managed to go about 200 yards with the tail out (controlled) round a biiiiig roundabout this morning, steering it all with my right foot. Magic.
