Would like to have something beside the radio perhaps, but not a clue what to attach to where...

everything I've looked at is designed for "normal" cars, with vents and stuff like that! smile

Only option at the moment is a stupid sucker thing for the windscreen which looks horrible and would be miles out of reach if I wanted to press a button for the sat nav etc.

anyone come up with something clever?

Cheers

A sucker pad will also stick to the alloy bar running across the dash. So a mount suitably long will place the phone right by the radio pod.

I use something similar to this. Plug it into the cigarette lighter, bend the stalk over the tunnel and the plug in aux jack from the head unit so that its easily reachable.

Its one of those sucker things, but has a long enough arm that it brings it into reach...

I have one in my Mk1 Tuscan - you can buy different mounts for different phones.

Tip:
To stop it (or any other gooseneck mounts) vibrating, trap one of those demister sponge pad things between the neck and the dash.

This is my custom install in my tuscan. The mechanism allows for full rotation into portrait, tilts backwards for cd access and the whole thing can be removed using a single Allen key. When driving around tomorrow it stays steady becuase its quite a short arm. Each adjustment of the arm can be tightened up to stiffen up the movement.

Or maybe take out the ash tray and put in this: http://www.gpscity.ca/ram-mount-apple-iphone-vehic...

Nice one, thanks for all the ideas!

I think I'm going to try that cup holder one, or a DIY one like that.

Should be able to easily wire in some power down there from the fag lighter too !

I used to have one that was designed to be fitted into a cupholder, and then had a short flexible stalk and bracket to hold the phone.

If you removed the ashtray/magic coin holder thingy, it sat in there perfectly

no idea what it was called though
