Im rapidly thinking balls to not buying a Tuscan--i was gonna go cerb but im in love with the tuscan--so bollocks to engine reliability--plus theya re way cheaper than the equiv 4.5--so i can put aside a couple of grand for a rebuild----- i`ll only be doing 5k a year anyways (2nd car)
erm question is--- how much roughly am i looking at for a tuscan to be red rosed and have the spoliers put on and be resprayed black--in other words i want it to look like the S version that i just cant afford.

I have a rear spoiler you can buy from me at cost if you like, think it was about GBP200 with all the pieces.
Yoink! I'll have that if you're selling it (and you're OK with it). Drop me a mail and I'll sort out gettign a cheque into the post/doing a bank transfer.
Cheers.

That'll take care of finger followers & valve guides, too. I'd recommend buying an early-ish car that's done about 10k miles and HASN'T had a rebuild for some knock-down price, pointing out to the owner they're about to have a big bill on their hands.
Spoilers will be a few hundred quid painted + fitted.
Total respray will depend on the type of black (standard/spangly), but you're looking at £3k for a top-quality job in a fancy colour. Maybe £2k for a "normal" paint. Those are just ballpark figures, though.
Note that the S has the uprated brakes and suspension, too...

Good plan, that man. TVR Power will do you a Red Rose conversion for £3.5k all in: www.tvrpower.co.uk/sp6.RR.php

So th eRed Rose upgrade TVR Power offer is just the engine then? So not a true Red Rose unless you get the brakes and suspension sorted as well - does that make it a Pink Rose conversion?

Well, it gets a bit more complicated... Some Tuscans have had the uprated dampers and brakes fitted anyway - think they became standard spec at some point in the past (could be wrong here - but I know some people have had RR brake/suspension upgrade for free/as standard)
Personally have Nitrons fittedinstead of the "adjustable" (read "height adjustable only") RR dampers. Makes a world of difference (really). Bigger brakes are always good, too. Although I still locked the car up this morning and nearly launched it into a field as some crazy bint in a Xsara Picasso pulled out in front of me onto the roundabout I was taking at 50mph (a legal speed on that roundabout, I might add...)

ok so--- a cunning plan is born....(even if i am down a spoiler!)
now the next questions is--- (blockbuster mode) What Y is the year that the RR brakes susp started getting fitted as standard to the Tuscan....?
Already had that cunning plan... and already enacted all of it bar the rear spoiler (even down to the Tuscan S badge on the back).

Can't give you a definitive answer on the brakes & dampers. Some people had them retrofitted, we all know what TVR are like with fitting different parts, etc. and I'm not even sure if they ever really became "standard". I am sure someone else will have a better idea than me on this.
Just inspect a car and have a look for the height-adjuster ring on the suspension. Not sure if the original "standard" brakes were cross-drilled, either (again, someone else might know that one). TVR suspension is pish compared to Nitrons et al, anyway.
My July 2000 car had height adjustable suspension but the original undrilled disks. If these are the equivalent to RR shocks then I wouldn't get excited as they are still crap. Go for Nitrons.
I think drilled disks came in around Aug 2000 on the x plate cars.

So for those with the lip spoiler and boot spoiler on a standard Tuscan, what everyday difference do they make?
Lip spoiler makes the car noticeably less twitchy, especially when steering at high speed. Makes a noticeable difference about 70-80mph, makes a worthwhile difference at 100+. On my car, at least.
The original car had the cheap and nasty suspension, smaller brake disks (not cross drilled I think) and 16" wheels - the Red Rose pack when originally offered was engine mods (up 20bhp), 18" wheels (with different rear exhaust to fit them in), uprated brakes, uprated suspension.
Later on TVR put cross drilled brakes on all cars, but these were not the Red Rose spec, just cross drilled and better than they were
Further on still TVR altered the suspesnsion pick up opints and thus improved the suspension, again not providing Red Rose suspension, but still improving the "standard" car set up.
in between all of this some owners had some or all of the Red Rose bits added, some went for different suspension dampers and springs as well, lots went for the 18" spiders and i believe the modified exhaust was adopted very quickly once TVR saw the interest in 18" wheels!
Are you still with me? Good....
So there is no set date when things changed nor would their ever be with TVR as they have always had a tradition of adding the new bits as and when the old stock ran out, hence the S series went S1, S1.5, S2 etc
As for the spoilers (never a better name IMHO) I was advised not to add only the front splitter as it is designed to work with the rear duck tail to provide down force at speed (one of the few cars to provide positive down force btw, most just reduce lift) but that may have been the official line to stop Tuscan S lookalikes from sprouting up, and never have driven a car with both or only one spoiler I cannot comment, all I will say is that I have never noticed any high speed problems with the Red Rose setup, even at speeds of 175 - on mainland europe autobahns!

2002 was a good year
18" Wheels were the norm, brake and suspension all upgraded also the interior was upgraded by then.If you get an early 2002 they still have the 4.0L engine
Here goes the cheap plug
Mine is for sale
2002 chameleon blue 4.0L
Just had valve clearances done (no wear at all)

JS, finger followers not specificly mentioned in Power's run down of RR upgrade:
6 HIGH FLOW INJECTORS
PORTED CYLINDER HEAD
3 ANGLE VALVE SEATS
CC CHAMBERS
INSTALL VALVE SPRING HEIGHTS
RESKIM CYLINDER HEAD
POLISH CRANKSHAFT
PISTON RINGS
RE-HONE BLOCK
MAIN BEARINGS
BIG END BEARINGS
BALANCE RODS
BALANCE PISTONS
MODIFIED EPROM CHIP
COMPLETE SEAL KIT
OIL
FILTER
ANTIFREEZE
CLUTCH FLUID
But they would be changed as well..? Am very interested by this - am kinda out on a limb being over here...no warranty option either. And +20BHP to boot

That' very interesting! Surely the way to go if TVR are not doing the 'good will' rebuilds anymore.
