It came off in my hand honest

......the lever that adjusts the tilt of the steering wheel. I went to adjust it and the lever came adrift. Still sticking out of the side of the coaming but not connected.

Due to take the shroud off soon for other reasons so has anyone experienced this before?

...oh its a mark 1 year 2000.

It screws into a threaded hole in the column lever and should have a locknut to hold it in place. Has it just unscrewed itself or do the threads look damaged?
