T2S 2005. Had an intermittent air con fault. The clutch wouldn't kick in at times. Recently, it wouldn't kick in at all. When it did engage, everything was fine - nice and cold, so I assumed it was an electrical issue. I checked all the usual things - no obvious faults on the pod heater menu, no obvious corrosion on the thermostat thingy under the passenger shelf. I did notice some manky looking connections with the wires from the compressor. A squirt of WD and everything worked again. So, I re-did the connections properly and put everything back together.

Now, when I turn the ac on, both the ac blue light and the fan indicator lights flicker 6-7 times and then the clutch engages. Everything seems to work ok. Is this a dase of 'they all do that' or have I overlooked something?

Lights shouldn't flicker AFAIK...They don't on my 2004 Mk1.

I'd say there's something not right with the solenoid/electromagnet on the clutch for the pulley at the front of the a/c compressor...but that is a shot in the dark.
Have you checked the fuse(s)? another wild shot, but just wondered if the relevant fuse was a bit 'furred' up it might struggle to pass full current? Although, I guess, it should 'blow' if it was offering high resistance.
I say the above because when I got my car it blew 2 fuses, one after the other, for dipped beam lights, then I squirted fuse holder with contact cleaner, replaced fuse for 3rd time, and it's been fine for last 3 years.

Thanks - everything looks fine and it's all working o.k now, so I think I'll leave well alone!
