With the stopper under the clutch pedal, think you can also adjust the length of the master cylinder rod.
You only want the pedal to have the minimum amount of travel to fully enage the clutch. Beyond that and there will be excessive strain on the fingers.

Like Neil mentioned, you want the minimum travel with the clutch pack tvr used. Too much pedal travel is converted to force on the diaphram sping. Did your clutch fail at the diaphragm spring, spring washers, butterfly springs or friction plates. That's really what you need to understand. I guess it depends who did it, and what feedback they gave you.
