Where do the steering rack interiour parts come from

I know the housing is unique, but where do the interiours come from?
Any idea someone?

Can someone in Blackpool pick up a steering rack bar for me and send it to Germany?
This post is obsolete, it turned out it is a LHD steering rack bar!

They do only refurbs of your steering or exchange the parts.
Anyone got a explosion drawing of the sd1 steering rack?

I am afraid not. Impossible to identify the rack bar that is of special interest to me.

I am doing a rack rebuild. The stearing rack is stripped down now. Since up to today I was not able to source the rack bar I am as far to have a copy made or for the first step a CAD data file of it. Mine has fine scratches in it and I fear if we polish these down the seals will not longer fit properly.

Since it seems to be impossible to make a copy of the steering rack I have ordered a new item from RG.
But SURPRISE it turned out to be different from the old one which is to be seen on the left hand side of the pic.
Look closely at the end of the teeth at the half moon shape above and you will clearly see the roughly 2mm difference.
So another pinion is needed as well. The ratio is the same but they seem to have changed the depth of the teeth on the rack.
bks! My car is a MK1 built in July 2002. So if you are planning on doing the same stupid thing as me be aware!
