My Tuscan seems to do less miles every year, (should sell the damn thing really but cant quite bring myself to do it) and i've been looking at ways to keep the cost of ownership down.
With only around 2k/yr of use I have now decided to go 2 years between services.
Does everyone else stick to a yearly service or are some of you tight like me wink
I know the arguments about resale value etc but I cant see anyone being to concerned about a car going 3-4k miles between services.

If you have no issues with the car I do not think that is unreasonable.

Does the car tend to do short runs? I would just drop the oil and change the filter your self for all that costs every year. Cheapest form of maintenance.

Iasked Dom at TVR Power a similar question, he said unless you are leaving it for a couple of years or tracking it, every 6k miles should be fine.

Have to comment on this.

Just had a mate round with his Tuscan - 2001 model, 34K miles, bought from well known dealer.
He has done 4000 or 5000 miles in 2 years.

He had issues with his OS indicator - had come unstuck from 'pod'.

Sorted indicator - then dipped beam light not working - lazy door locks.

All (IMHO) down to low use. I lubed locks, sprayed contact cleaner on connectors for lights...started to get some results.

Just cannot understand spending >£15K on something and not using it. Each to their own though.
I'm more than happy with my 59000 mile example knowing I've driven Spa, Le Mans and the 'Ring.

Don't misunderstand my post, I have owned the car since 2006.
Bought 2 yrs old with 5k on clock. £28k iirc
In that time it has visited LeMans 5 times, (came home on a transporter with knackered big end on one of these )
Been on track at Cadwell, Oulton and Donnington and run up over 20k miles.
Only had two faults in this time, Speedo sensor and big end !!

I now share a lotus Elise race car and this takes up a lot of my spare time (and funds) and weekends away racing.

The Tuscan tends to sit in the garage now other than the occasional run out which is ok as I don't need to 'cash it in' at present and it doesn't appear to be devaluing, infact maybe the opposite ?

I agree that cars of any type need to be used to keep things working but touch wood mine seems to be holding its record of 2 faults in 7 years !

Its off for its bi annual service at Power (Dom rebuilt engine) on Monday so that will put a few more on the clock smile

Yummy I'm loving that pic!!! I have mine up for sale atm and gave it a 2 stage polish last weekend for a 'potential buyer' who turns up in a GT3!!! So why are you after a Tuscan if you have that??!!! Anywho, he was a bit of a messer as came up with some contradicting excuse why it wasn't for him! I just don't use mine much as have 2 kids under 3, one being only 4months old. But everytime I look in the garage at it or take it out I just fall in love with it and have to rethink if I should bother selling it! I do think they will hold their value, if not go up, especially mine being an 'S'.

My Tuscan came from a fastidious owner serviced yearly despite low miles by TVR main dealers as you say everyone wants full history but I wonder with some of them if it Is worth the paper it's written on it had just had a 12k service 1.5k before purchase when I checked the valves clearances 8 ex and 2 inlet valves where out of spec this was not wear as the valves recess into the head and the clearance reduces these were 4thou too wide. Do it on mileage change oil once a year and don't take dealer history for gospel

Service sorted at Power, all well with car apart from needing new engine mounts.
Had a day out in Coventry while car was in, not as bad as I thought and an entertaining drive back to Lincoln in a monsoon smile
