Hi all,

Thinking of getting a tuscan. Looked at one today, an S with 15K on the clock, but the interior seemed a little worn for 15K. Most worrying was the fact that the upper half of the leather "pod" around the wheel was beginning to come off. Was quite loose.

Everything else seemed OK. The garage assure me this is common, but all the other tuscans I have seen have been finished to a pretty high standard.

Thoughts?

No not normal, but if it is just a cosmetic item and everything else is ok there are some great upholsterers on here that can repair it. If everything else is sound get a discount from the dealer for the repair or walk away.

Do not rush into Tuscan ownership, take your time do your research on here and get a good one they are out there.

If the issue was the cowling coming away from the alloy pod head then i'd say it was fairly common. It can be a straight forward fix and may just need re-fitted properly.

+1 Someone else was asking the same question a couple of weeks ago having viewed a few. The fit of the pod moulding isn't great, especially on earlier cars, so it's hard to keep it in place. A lot are glued but it still can vibrate loose.

IMO the materials used inside the Tuscan are not the best so can start looking a bit tired fairly quickly, especially if parked out in sun with roof off a lot etc.

Thanks all,

That puts my mind at rest, the car seems otherwise straight.

Will keep you all posted!

Do you know if it's had any engine work? I'd get it thoroughly checked out by someone who knows what they're looking at if not as 15k miles on a 2002 engine isn't enough to guarantee all potential issues will have shown themselves.

mines not loose on my wheel, but the pod needs gluing back in place fully since I had it all apart to fix the dash Perspex. I've just not gotten around to it yet.
