noisy gear box

hi all. upon my returning trip from the day out, the gear box started to make a noise of something like [running of gears] every time i change the gears from the 1st to 2nd to 3rd to 4th to 5th, and also the gear stick is squeaking when i change the gears.
i've checked underneath the car this mornning for any loss of oil, and the floor is dry. please, any thoughts and ideas are welcome. thanks.

Best take it to a specialist! Apparently its a false economy diagnosing faults on here and fixing them yourself!

Noise once the gear is engaged and you're under power?

their is no noise when in gear, it's during the change when it makes the noise.

Yep if its noisy when clutch applied it'll usually be the above.
