You should be happy - you're about to get a new toy.

Personally, I wouldn't be nervous, 'cos I wouldn't touch it without a rebuild...

But then looking at the number of multiple rebuilds, maybe 21k without needing work should be more reassuring than only a few k miles since a rebuild.

Just make sure you keep enough spare cash aside in case you need a rebuild. If you can't afford to then maybe wait a bit until you can

If you can, you're in for the time of your life

I wouldn't touch it either if it had not had a rebuild.

Buy mine instead.....[shameless plug]

JSG - From your survey is there a Tuscan out there that has got to 30000 miles without engine work?

Mike - If you take the attitude that it is going to go pop before it gets to 30000 miles and you've factored that cost in somewhere, you should be okay. And if the engine doesn't fail, bonus!!

Putting the money aside's one thing... the 2 month+ wait is another entirely!

There are 2 2000 S6 engines that are past 20,000 miles without having going pop yet. But there are others that "popped" at 21,000, 22,000, 24,000, 27,000...

21K miles this was similar mileage to mine when JSG did his survey, and I was one in the no re-build survey at that time. Although the valves had been closing up prematurely before this, so I knew something was going to have to be done, anyway that is now all in progress , but my advice would be to go for it after having it checked out & keep a little bit aside incase it needs some attention.

Some one on TOG popped up recently claiming 30K and no engine work or rebuild.

Very Very Nervous......Autumn and winter = wet roads.

Be very happy, You've obviously got pistonparanoia.
Read with a pinch of salt especially by those who are not owners.

TVR power told me they know of a car with 50k miles on it and no engine work, although this is very rare.

thing is the car has all the extras and is available for a good price so even with say a £4000 rebuild it wouldnt be particularly expensive, still be off the road though.

fingers crossed.
mike.

That's the only way to look at it.

Nothing for the money will give you 10% of the thrills and excitement.

My 2000 Red Rose Tuscan went pop 3 weeks ago after 15k, but I still love it and desparately want it back..

What's 4k when the nearest vehicle to give you that much pleasure is probably four times the cost.

Go in with your eyes open and it will be the best decision of your life...
