I will start off by saying that I don't think the original spiders have been bettered on the Tuscan for looks, and up until now I've had no problem with mine. Unfortunately I've started noticing a vibration above 60 which I've been told by a tyre fitter is warped rims.
Questions, after some searching I've found a company called Lepsons who advertise a refurb service, but was wondering if anyone had any experience with them? I've called and was told that some are repairable some aren't but don't want to go all the way down to Kent without some previous experiences.
Secondly are the new Spiders from the likes of Power and Racing Green built to a better spec?
And lastly, after reading a thread in the Sagaris section I got to thinking about alternative designs. On the Sag I think the Jade R design is actually better than the original. If anyone has gone down this route and have some pictures could you post them up please? I think I'd really be looking for something as close to the spider as possible but if there are any other suggestions it would be good to see them.

Cheers

A friend of mine has these on his Tuscan - I can probably find out what they are if you like them. In real life they look like a modern take on the spider, but they aren't made out of polystyrene egg boxes, unlike the spiders

Think they're Rota drifts. They've been on previous thread in the sagaris forum. Does anyone have a full pic of this car to see they fit in with the rest of the tuscan styling.

Sorry, no. This pic was taken by someone at Thunder in the Tunnels.
My only other pic of his car was with spiders on. I will ask him if he's got one he can let me have

I know the jade r's are popular but I still feel they look too aftermarket still. They just need another couple of spokes. Those Rota drifts do look good but need to see them with the rest of the car.

My main gripe with the spiders is their sheer weight. Their some kind of alloy of cast iron. Size for size they have to be the heaviest alloy around.

I think they might be off a Lexus. Overheard the chap at TITT.

I Think the JadR wheels look good in the silver on the Tuscan,
i have seen black on my own Tuscan and did not look so good, so glad Jason opted for these

Further down that other thread:

I think the wheels at the top could be 'Calibre Volante' - don't suppose the owner of the car is on here to comment on what they are like?

I think you are correct. The caps in the centre are identical. Knowing him they wouldn't be cheap. He has gone away for four weeks, so i cannot ask him.

Good find Cockey but only come in 19" from what I can find, but definitely the best alternative so far imo.
Gone through a load of alloy wheel sites and come to the conclusion the Tuscan looks best with at least 6 and preferably 7 spokes on the wheel. Personally I don't like to see a big gap between brake disc and rim either, and more spokes just seem to suit the car more.
Anybody with experience of replacement spiders from the likes of Power or Racing Green?

Thanks all for the feed back

FWIW, I had a good look at my friend's car on these wheels, and thought how good they looked, a perfect blend of modern styling with the good looks of the original spiders. They really suited the Tuscan, making it look slightly more up to date.

Interesting Qbee thanks, any other pictures than the one you posted above showing the whole car? Any feed back on how the larger diameter affects the driving?

All I can tell you is that he seemed happy with them, and he has been known to change wheels if he felt he had made a mistake. I will email him in case he can send us any photos or data.

I bought a set of wheels in anthracite (can't spell)from RG and have to say they are very well finished no problems with them at all, good price to from what I can remember as I wanted to keep the original wheels, they also do mirror chrome in anthracite. Call them and discuss.
