Thanks for the reply. The exhaust was a one off from from the factory as was the engine and several other mods on the drive chain. The exhaust is a quite version of the latest Tuscan S bigger bore exhaust. The TVR Centre mechanics reckon its a lot quieter than latest exhausts but because the engine and propshaft are both quiter than their standard counterparts the exhaust boom is more noticeable.

It shouldnt be too much of a problem to sort out if you are willing to invest a little time into it. First I would have thought to have the exhaust checked out - maybe something is not quite right and it might make a big enough difference.

If not then there are plenty of things that you can add to the lining in the boot, cabin and engine bay. Though I would be careful with the engine bay (expensive if you get something wrong - well I would anyway). Most big car places will sell the matting or plastic inserts that you need. Buy a job lot and cut it to fit - then re-lay the car boot carpet or cabin liner and you are sorted....

Not quite a simple as that, as you need to do a bit of trial and error - but the two types of sound deadening that I have used before are the plastic sheets (about 3MM think and designed for doors and behind speakers - expensive) or the matting (like car carpet underlay but better sound deadening characteristics). Worked a treat on an old Golf I used to have, and you dont need to do the whole car either - just the sections where you think the vibration or noise is coming from....

Halfords used to have the plastic sheet, while a car interior fitter should have the matting. Magazines such as Autocar should have the adverts - or try Exchange and Mart or Autotrader???

Cheers,

Paul
