Well after seven weeks away having a 4k engine
rebuild at Blackpool I was about to pick up
the car this week from the dealer when they
rang and told me the car has a severe engine
misfire and has to go back to Blackpool for attention.
I can't believe it, well actually I can thinking about it (ROLLEYES) Any thoughts I had of trading mine in
next year for a brand new TVR have totally gone now.
Think I might give up on fast car's all together, wont
be able to afford to drive soon anyway when the tolls
begin

Hopefully the misfire is something simple that the dealer overlooked / didn't want to look for.

Don't give up just yet!

Prying a bit;

Did you pay for the rebuild or did TVR/dealer cover it?

I paid four grand though TVR say it should have cost
£8500. They will not say what caused the engine to
fail so can't be sure it wont happen again.
O well such is life?

Prying a bit more:

Has the car a full (dealer) sevice history?

I ask as the anecdotal evidence is that the factory "look after" you if you have.

Surely you could by a totally new engine for £8500?

Col,
I hope it's only a minor inconvenience like the misfires I experienced after my throttle pot mods, The setup was supposed to be at factory tolerances? In reality the car went like stink but huge misfires, was taken back in and reset at "experience levels" by our engineer. Haven't looked back, she still runs like a dream some 7k miles later.

Best Regards,

James Sim.

According to TVR an engine is £12500.
Thanks James I hope it something simple and
not anything that requires the engine out again.
