Apparently my (dictionary) definition of the word break isn't the same as their (non-dictionary) definition.

ah.. I take it James, that our respective warranty company has not been forthcoming with payment for said gubbed trevor ?
(we are both with warranty works...not tried to used mine yet).

So warranty works arent coming up with the moola James??? What happened to your engine?? I've not taken out my new warranty yet and was wondering how good they were. 700 quid for 3 years is to cheap. Kinda thought that would be the case. Next step???
Still shouting at the Warranty Company - I will get some money out of them. They've yet to give me a good reason why the valve guides (which are what's given way) aren't covered. Currently they're saying that their definition of "break" is when something comes apart into multiple pieces. My response:
1. How does that mean that electrical parts are covered then? (and they are specifically covered by the warranty)
2. Two different dictionary definitions have "break" as meaning "To render useless or inoperative" and "to damage a part of a tool or machine so that it stops functioning properly, or become damaged and stop functioning properly". To me, that's what's happened.
3. Surely all kind of breakage is of the same type - something prematurely wears and stops operating correctly. Whether it stops operating before or after the "wear" wears through, causing the item to be in multiple pieces is irrelevant.
4. If something "wears", then that means that part of the substance is being removed from the main. So, the item is broken into multiple parts.
I think this is one of those games of who has the most patience. I hate these types of games! (And I'll be celebrating my one-month Trev-less anniversary this weekend)

Scratch that last post. I've spent a loooooong time on the phone to Olympic Warranties (who Warranty Works are a seller for), and there is no way in hell they'll pay a single penny out on the engine. So, if you want a warranty that covers your S6 lump, don't bother with them.
Having heard the contents of their engineer's report, I could now do with finding out what TVR expects the acceptable lifetime of an S6 block to be.
I'm starting to seriously sympathise with all those ex-owners on here that rant about how glad they are to be rid of their Trevors (or more accurately, the problems associated with them). As much as I love everything about the car (when it's working), having had it off the road for the majority of the time since I got it (at the end of March), and not being able to afford the ensuing bill, I think my allegiances may well change. Being forced to refinance over an inherent flaw isn't my idea of a fun Summer.
Whoever once said "if you can't afford two TVRs, you can't afford one" might well have been right.
Millyad, ChelseaTractor, I sincerely hope you have more luck with your cars than I.

I've had exactly the same problem with them (albeit with a Vauxhall) last month. Needless to say they won't pay out

.....suffice to say they will not be getting any more of my money!
You have my sympathies.....

Hell James it sounds like you're having a tough time at the moment, you have my sympathy. The engine on my Tuscan was done in 2003 but occasionally I can't help wondering if I have a time bomb sitting on the drive. How many miles has yours done?
Hey Jo. Cheers for the support - hopefully it'll all be sorted for the bank holiday w/end at the Fish's! Been told by TVR Power that the car should be ready to be picked up in a week. Once everything's settled down, I think I'm going to have it resprayed in "Desert Moondust" so that it feels like a new car.

It's done 23,000 miles. It had one rebuild back in 2002 for the finger followers, that was at about 8,000 miles. So, 15,000 miles on and the throttle bodies were worn (sorted at SFR), the valve guides were burnt out (that's what it's in at TVR Power for), and the engineer's report states that 5 of the 6 cylinders are suffering from piston slap. That's an awful lot of things suffering from premature wear...
