Get a policy that only covers six month 'on the road use'

Got a renewal that wasn't too bad from Tesco this week (£1550 - and that *IS* unusually low for me). Got it down to £1450 from Direct Line. Tried confused.com and the best they came up with was £1850. Then tried that new one - First Alternative, got flagged with the following as reasons I can't go with them:
o I'm too young
o I've written a car off in the last 3 years
o I do too many miles
o The car needs a tracker
o The alarm/immobiliser isn't good enough
o The car needs to be on a private drive/in a garage at all times
o I don't live in a good enough area(!?!?!)

Can anyone beat that for reasons for being declined. (And for what it's worth, I've never had a single point or any convictions against me)

Have you tried Cheam or Frizzells - they are ususally a good bit cheaper than Tesco. Our Cheam policy is unlimited business miles, no need for tracker etc

I found Privilege to be slightly cheaper than Direct Line and Tesco.

I tried Tesco last week and they were adament that they didn't insure Tuscans, even when I told them that I'd heard of many people on this site who are insured with them?

Got a good quote through Norwich Union Direct in the end, they came down nearly £200 when I haggled!

I was with Privilege and now have Direct Line. I know thay are the same company but I saved £120 by switching. I guess the online quotes are cheaper than basic renewals. I found Tesco more expensive and the TVRCC "cheap" insurance a joke as twice the price.

Snap

I've had several people suggest that I get a quote from Liverpool Victoria. Apparently they're giving some fantastic rates for people *cough* over 30.
