How do all,
After 3 1/2 years it's time my Tuscan got treated to some new suspension. Having read over a few older posts, it's obvious Nitrons are the way forward.
I'm intending to give Jools a call this week (Jools, you around? what's the wait these days for Nitron supply and fitting?) but wondered what configurations people went for, given a particular driving style.
My Tuscan seems to get used infrequently these days, and mostly for track days or long drives (it's suprisingly more comfy for a long drive than my daily Mini Cooper S, which is a back crippler after a couple of hours). Personal best is a 805 mile day from home (Cambridge) to Biarritz in South West France :-)
I don't particularly want to lose the long distance capability, but I do want less roll on the track (it's getting a bit 'wallowy' these days, especially compared to a friends Noble!). I also don't want to introduce any sudden back end snappiness, I'm used to how it feels now and would hate to introduce a sudden 'snap' point for the back end to break away.
Last point, ride height. Did folks drop the car at all? I feel that it is maybe just a little bit too high (I'm running the S spec tyres now of Toyo 255/35 on 18" all round)

I bought the stock kit direct from Nitron, which took about 2 days to arrive. Mine runs about an inch lower than what I assume was standard ride height, although mine seemed lower to start with than some of the other cars I´ve seen. The improvement was amazing, especially on bumpy surfaces, although not been on a track yet. It is definitely more comfortable than before with the shocks currently running at 5 clicks from full soft.
I did fit them myself Bryan. The dampers came complete with springs fitted from Nitron, and the ride heights were set pretty close for a standard car as they were. The fitting probably took about 3 hours including resetting the heights. It´s a very straight forward job, assuming you don´t need the alignment sorting out too.

You don´t need spring compressors or anything. You´ll need 2 sockets or a ring spanner and socket (17mm iirc) to remove and replace the bolts through each end of the shocks and that´s it. If you´re doing it one side at a time you´ll also have to disconnect the rear anti roll bar to allow the bottom wishbone to drop enough to get the old shock out and the new one in, but that is only one nut per side. I made a c spanner to adjust the heights but you don´t actually need one. With the weight off you can move the collars by hand.
