Just been to test drive a Tuscan. . Quick question: Has anyone tried driving along with the rear window in place but the roof in the boot? I have unpleasant visions of the thing being blown out because I didn't want to go through the faff of unclipping it.

That;s the way I have it most of the time. Can't be bothered faffing around with the clips and protective bag. Is generally fine - hasn't blown out yet. The airflow through the cabin and noise is better with it removed, but otherwise no problems Steve

Thanks for that. Hmmmmn. Now I've got to make up my mind whether or not to go for one of the 'old' Tuscans (Possibly RR)...a new Tuscan (3.6) or wait for a Tuscan S. Confusing or what!

I assume you haven't seen the Tuscan S yet then? (or you like the thought of driving a Sainsburys shopping trolley).

You don't need to wait for a Tuscan S, the first customer cars are on their way already ================ Graham and Rosie

Have you actually seen one then Mike? Or are you basing this on the TVR web site pictures? I want to see one in the flesh before I decide, as, once again, the TVR pictures are taken from low down, so the real thing may look totally different - remember the slating the "cheese grater" grill got originally? And who mentions it now? Personally I am not so keen on the stack of lights at the rear (makes the bum look too high) but like the front and want to see the whole package - plus the extra power wouldn't go a miss ================ Graham and Rosie

Know what you mean. I've only seen the TVR pictures, of course. But like Graham I'd wait until I've seen it in the GRP. Decisions, decisions.

Graham, You know me well enough to know that I never let the facts get in the way of a good winge Fair point - I haven't seen it yet. I don't have a problem with the front, it's just that rear spoiler and (as you say) lights. I had really hoped they'd use a frikkin great rear diffuser (see Tuscan R) now that would look good. Mike

Quote "Quick question: Has anyone tried driving along with the rear window in place but the roof in the boot? " It's okay at lower speeds, but very unpleasant resonance in the cabin as you get a bit faster. The griff/chimp are much better top down. Haven't tried it with the window out yet.

My guess would be that didn't happen due to cost. The price of adding a boot lip spoiler against redoing the boot to fit a diffuser must come in to it! I agree that a diffuser would be better, but this seems to be function before fashion. I believe some dealers are getting their first Tuscan S cars soon, so I will wait and see what they look like, maybe we can get our cars updated with the splitter, spoiler, extra power (yes please) but keep the current lights, those lozenge indicators are great.... I wonder, do you think the move of the indicators could be some compromise for the European or American markets? Can't see any other reason to change them (other than for changes sake or cost savings) ================ Graham and Rosie

....or because the back end now looks like a huge blubbery @rse? The lights break up the large expanse a bit? Edited by MikeE on Thursday 12th April 11:09

even better if they were arranged horizontally in line with the indicators, the vertical choice makes the car look too narrow

I was told (from my Dealer) that a rear-window had come out at speed while the roof was off, mine seems OK at upto 100 MPH though, will be in Germany soon (Land of the free - strange eh!!) so might try it at some higher speeds!!

The rear end of the original Tuscan is voluptuous without a doubt, but the rolling uncluttered curves made it as striking as the front - not necessarily to everyones tastes. The S spoiler completely destroys the rear end impact by flattening out the fantastic bootlid curve and the cumbersome placing of the lights would be more at place on something attached to a fairground ride. I know that the resulting improvement in performance/handling cannot be ignored but it has been achieved at the expense of TVRs equally important asset - styling.

I know it's been discussed many times and it's a personal choice.... but.... the rear of the S is PIG UGLY. I've seen S's in several colours and it just does't work from any angle... black seems to be the least offensive...

I wanted an S but weighed up the pro's and conns of the S versus a standard car and came to the conclusion that 95% of my driving didn't need the addtional handling benefits.. so for 5% of the time I'd have to take it slightly slower... I'd just have to put up with a car that looks fantastic, goes like the clappers, sounds fantastic and handles 'reasonably' well.

Messing about with photoshop, I came up with this. I know the angles off but what do you think? Should I call Wheeler or stick with my day job?

I know its hard to believe, but I actually don't work for Lamborghini design.

Oh, and it can double up as a snowboard too.

Hope you don't mind me using your shot Graham but I haven't got my car yet.

It must be a personal thing, because I think I prefer the back-end of the S....

And anyway, its not like the spoiler is a permanent part of the moulding. You *could* remove it if you wanted to...

I have to agree with Sixspeed on this. And BTW I am not biased in any way
