OK I know the engine sound should be enough but.....

Anyone upgraded (the rather lightweight) system in their Tuscan?? I can't even hear the radio when the roof is off, and get so much interference when the indicator is on I need to sort this out sooner rather than later!!!

Any comments / info appreciated.

My bespoke sound system was installed by Auto Audio in London. I would NOT recommend them. My system was installed the day my car was released from the factory and it was covered in scratches from when they removed the driver and passenger seats. there we're scratches and gouges along either side of the bonnet and the amps we're placed in the boot with velcro!? Even the sub and tweeters we're missing their covers and the head unit was missing the remote.

To be fair everything was sorted in the end with a little effort from the dealer and myself. Howeve the sound quality at volume tends to distort. I am planning on having my system sorted and upgraded at SQ Plus in Manchester (Near the Trafford Centre) - www.sqplus.com/.

Here are the details of my current set up:

Alpine CDA 7876RB CD Tuner
Alpine DDTF25A tweeters in the front (either side of the dash inset)
Alpine 17cm SPR172B speakers (rear mount facing forward)
JL Audio 8" 8W0-4 Sub (centre rear mount facing forward)
Alpine MRV-T407 Amplifier (powers the sub)

This particular head unit is a hi-power unit running 60w each to the tweets and the 17cm. The sub has 400w which results is some amazing bass to a point. As I said before the install has resulted in a less than perfect sound at volume (better than most, though )

I browsed the various online car audio shops to find the best prices then used this to bargain better prices from the dealer.

Here are some sites I found usefull:
www.sqplus.com/
www.caraudiodirect.com/
www.letsbuycaraudio.com/main.php
www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/

Hope this helps!

It sounds as if you need an amp going into your components ( if the amp doesn't already power the speakers as well as the sub). I've often found that components do slightly drain the power, compared to full range speakers without the extra tweeter, probably due to the extra crossover. Anyway, that cured my problem, + it wasn't a TVR- might mean bo**ocks to you.
cheers

Thanks for the help,
I've heard good things about SQ Plus (in some BMW magazines) so i'll try them unless anyone has any bad experiences with them and TVR's??

The new Sony CDX MP70 head unit (single CD, MP3) look's perfect in the Tuscan and marries up to MP3 6 disc changer. As for speakers take a look at Boston Acoustics.
