last night i tried to take the roof off my tuscan to enjoy the sunshine on the way home - but i couldnt get the right hand lever( in the boot) to release.
managed to undo clip inside and left hand lever but the right was stuck solid.
i forced it about a quarter of the way and then it felt like something was about to snap.

has this happened to anybody else and what can i do other than take it to a dealer to look at?

squirt WD40 onto the loocking pin in the gap between the roof panel and rear roll bar - this worked for me before. Also you might want to try pushing the roof down on that side to make sure the locking pins not jammed by a misaligned roof.

Have had almost exactly the samr problem on mine. The drivers side lever was always stiff but a few months back it started to refuse to pull the retaining pin back enough for the roof to release.

Apparantly it is a common thing for the cables to stretch and then they wont draw back far enough. Unfortunately this problem (for my dodgy DIY anyway) is a back to the dealer for a strip down and resolder.

Classified as 'wear and tear' by the warranty too.

Hope this helps.

The dealer can usually fix this in 10 minutes. There are some nuts to undo and tighten that are part of the handle mechanism in order to move the cable if it has stretched.

You can't see them - so it's much better to leave it to the experts who can do it on feel alone!

Cheers,

Andy.

The length of cable can be adjusted from the boot it is easier to get at with the carpet pulled back. If you do have problems still you can manualy push the lock pin back with a suitable screwdriver by pushing ot back through the lug it locates in. Very hard to describe in words.
