Hi Mac5,
You could have mine for the high30's "IF" it was for sale, however I bought mines like something out of a Tom & Jerry cartoon, you know what I mean, Hearts pumping on the chest and also heading skywards out of the eyes.
If you can take on board all what's posted on web sites, you'll never make a decision. If I had the opportunity to try and test all available I would probably be still in the same position.
I liken my find to that Julia Roberts Movie, where I knew it was a gem that I found, But I turned it into a DIAMOND.
Good Luck With Your Searching,
Very Best Regards,
James Sim.

Hmph.

I'd suggest saving a few £k of your budget to spend on inevitable work when you get it - whether it's from a dealer or a private sale (allow more for the latter). I.e. if you have £28k to spend, only spend £25k on a car, and keep £3k incase of engine problems, etc.
There are loads of threads on here if you do a search for common problems... finger followers, throttle bodies, valve guides, leaking, dash-pod electrics, etc. I know there are two camps on this one, but I'd suggest getting a warranty... all it'll take is one blown heater/air-con/dash-pod control unit and it'll have paid for itself.
Only real advice is find one you like (that's had the finger followers taken care of) and that you're not going to go "I wish I'd got one with X paint, Y wheels, air-con, etc". Every car's a risk, but at least you can get that bit right. Besides that, it's largely down to whether you buy privately, get a specialist, go to a dealer, etc.

Hmph. My Tuscan was far prettier. And noisier.

Have to say the advice you've given is very good. I spoke to Mark on Sunday about how and why I had purchased so won't repeat it here.
Good Luck with the search Mark, look forward to seeing you both (with the Tuscan) at Pistonfest.

I dithered for ages about mine, asked questions on this group and in the end realised that all I had to do was buy one and see. I went for a dealer and waranty as a bit if insurance if you see what I mean. I do quite a lot of miles so if I'm going to have problems it will occur in the first year and I can hit the waranty / dealer for it.
Once I made that decision, it was case of finding one I liked and going to get it.
had great fun ever since.
I paid 32k for one with 3k miles, but there are cheaper ones on sale.
Good luck, go for it
.

David

I read all the good advice on here about trying loads, dealers, warranties, inspections etc. In the end I bought the first one I really looked at, privately, without an inspection and without a warranty. To be fair it was from a fellow PHer so I knew something about the car´s previous problems from his posts. Apart from some small trim issues the car has been fine.
Go for it.
Go for it.
